Buying Boat from Tennessee and Registering in Virginia

Found a great buy on a Super Sport in Tennessee! Super excited to pick up this weekend, but trying to figure out details on buying a boat from Tennessee and then registering in Virginia. Since TN does not require title, will bill of sale and registration be the only documents I need? Do I need to do a lien search to be sure that the boat is paid off? Thanks for your help!

I would contact the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fishiers to see what is required for them to issue you a Va title.

I agree. Check with VA. I bought a boat from TN and titled/registered it in TX. I think I needed the MSO in addition to bill of sale and registration. I might be confusing that with the trailer though. It’s been a while.

May be a good idea to get the bill if sale notorized. I had to do that when buying a trailer from Massachusetts where they don't give you a copy of the title.

you will need a notarized bill of sale and his registration card. I know the boat you bought and it looks sweet!
