SN 196 vs SN

I know somebody has probably asked this before, but what are the differences or pros and cons between buying a 196 vs a regular SN. Im looking at a couple of SN boats, mainly in the 94-95 model year range, however, I found a nice 2000 196 for a great price and I wouldnt mind forkin out more dough for a better boat. I will mainly be wakeboarding behind the boat. Is a 196 a better buy if I can afford it? Thanks in advance for the help / advice!

If you'll mostly be wakeboarding, you don't want a 196. A Sport Nautique or early Air Nautique is probably what you're looking for.

The 196 nomenclature really didn't come out until the 2002 models (TSC2). Now it is kindof a generic term for a regular closed bow Ski Nautique. It's based off of the length- 19' 6" which has been the SN length since 1990. So, 196 basically means closed bow Ski Nautique on the "street" but technically the "196" model name did not come out until 2002.

I think what you're really asking is whether the 2000 Ski Nautique is a decent wakeboarding boat compared to the 90-96 Ski Nautique. From what I've heard, the 90-96 Ski Nautique hull puts out a better wakeboarding wake than the 97-01 hull by far.
