Anybody have opinion on a 2011 MC X25

Friend is looking at a 2011 MC X25, 200ish hours, seems to be fairly loaded but I don’t believe they had the gen 2 surf system back them. Other option is a new Moomba mojo.
anyone have an experience with either of these boats. This would be for a relatively new boater and new to surfing. Surfing would be the main activity, but how will the 2011 tech compare to the new Moomba? I know neither are a nautique, but thought I might get some unbiased opinions here.
    thanks

    I owned a 2011 X25, and loved it. Also owned a 2012 X25.

The X25 is very roomy for a 21.5 foot boat, and has some nice features for a boat from that time (bow armrests, rear seats, and a few other creature comforts). They did not have gen2 in 2011, but it might have the first gen surf tabs. Those don't work with anything more than stock ballast, which is pretty minimal in a 2011. Chances are, the bags have been upgraded......The wakeboard wake is fantastic, and doesn't need much weight to really get a top notch wake. Surf wave is fairly average, but can definitely get as nice as anything I have experienced from a Mojo.

If it was ordered with surf tabs, the it could be upgraded to gen2 by simply changing the rear tabs to the gen2 tabs. The touch screen will already be set up to run them. This might also be possible even if the boat doesn't have the gen1 system already...

Got a buddy with a Mojo. Its a nice boat. His is a 2015, and if I had the choice, id probably choose the X25 over it. The MC is just a lot nicer on finishes and features, even if it is older.......

That said, I'd hope a 2011 X25 is substantially cheaper than a brand new Mojo. If they are the same price, I would definitely take the new Mojo. Id think you could get a nice 2011 X25 for 50-55k these days (Maybe im wrong)

One thing of note- Make sure your friend stays away from 2012 MCs. The medallion TS was crap. 2010s and 2011s were fine. 2013s and up have the Murphy screens (same hardware as used for LINC), and they are fantastic. Honestly, if I was your friend, Id look for a good deal on a 2013-2014 X25 or X30 with gen2. Id think they could be found at about the same price as a new Mojo, and a X30 with Gen2 is an excellent surf boat......

      Great review, thank you!

The MC is Def cheaper than the new moomba, he just wanted to be sure the surf wave would work out ok with the older boat.

The biggest thing for him to watch out for, would be proper positioning of the surf tabs. If the tabs are installed even the tiniest bit low, the passive tab (surf side tab) can mess up the wave. Make sure the pins on the actuators are installed in the holes that keep the tabs as high as possible. It was common for dealers or owners to install them in the wrong position, and this would mess up the wave.

if he happens to get it, and switch to gen2 tabs, he should use measurements from a newer X25 to make sure the actuators are installed at the correct height. Other than that, he would be all good.
