G21 vs G23 surfing

I am looking to get a either a used G21 or a G23. We mainly surf, but I was wondering if there was a big difference between the surf waves? I am leaning more towards the G21 because the price is a little less. Or would it be worth it to spend more to get the G23?

Yes I agree with wakemaker! take the G23 out first then demo the G21 and it will not be a tough decision after that

I own a G23 and have two friends with a G21. I really can't determine a noticeable difference between the waves that I could describe in detail, but I am a fan of the G23. The extra space and cooler (amongst other things) are big advantages once you have a big crew on the boat.

I think your right, there is much love for the G21 on here. I was planning to order a G21 but now leaning towards the G23. Other than $15K no one has given me a single reason for a G21 over a G23. I really don't need a G23 sized boat, but I don't want to have the G21 and wish I had a G23. I think once you bite the bullet on a G23, what else is there to wish for.

So is everyone recommending the G23 because it actually has a better surf wave than the G21, or simply because it's bigger with more interior space, in-floor cooler, etc.? Not everyone has a crew of 8-12 people every time they hit the lake.

How bout this. I love my G21, ~400 hours of good times and not one regret. Never even considered a G23.

The G23 DEF has a better surf wave, although, the 21 is still better than most other boats out! I also highly prefer the wakeboard wake of the 23 over the 21, but a lot of that is just personal preference. And you will appreciate the extra space. Even though I sometimes do get up to 10+ people on the boat, most of the time my crew only consists of about 4-5 and even then I really like the extra space. Def not knocking the G21 at all, it's a superb boat! But if you're not restricted by size or $ (which in the grand scheme you're not really talking a lot of difference in $), then def go with the 23!

I am mainly a wakeboarder so my attention to detail on the surf wave isn't the greatest... however since getting the G23 I do find my self enjoying surfing a lot more than the 21, and my fiancé loves the wave behind the 23. I definitely think the surf wave is a tad longer on the 23 which can make it more desirable. A huge plus is the room inside the boat... lately everyone in my crew seems to ride different boards and being able to store the boards in the rear locker is a biggest advantage to me as I don't think we were able to do this with the 21.

I've done the measurements on the interior space between the G21 and G23. You gain 12" of seating in the main area and 6" in the bow with the 23, as it is only 18" longer overall. To my knowledge, the lockers are identical in each boat as the engine housing space is all the same.
