So I went to check out the boat I posted a link to in at the top of the thread. Let's just say that, at least in my opinion, it was FAR from clean. Dirty and faded interior, faded exterior gel coat, several big scratches, bottom worn from being beached on sand at the river, filthy and stained carpet, window trim gaskets (for lack of better word) dried, cracked and worn. Missing cup holders. Various hardware missing. Lots of things that need serious attention. To me this was a project boat and I really don't have the time, energy, or know-how to bring it back to its proper form.

That said, I'd be curious what people would think it would cost to repair the exterior, re-do the interior vinyl and carpet, and replace some of the window trim issues. There might be a number where this boat would be interesting but certainly not anywhere near the asking price. I did confirm the hours and it does have a bimini.

I too went to check out a boat in "showroom" condition. I drove 9 hrs one way and turned around and left with 5 mintues of seeing the boat. The pictures that were sent to me were apparently a couple years old and it had not been road hard and put away wet! I finally found a showroom condition one and glad I trusted my gut. The boat I bought was only 3k more than the one that was in rough condition. If you can, Hold out for the right one. It took me 11 months of OCD searching.

Perhaps foolishly, I'm still intrigued by the idea of a "project boat" because I think the one in my original post is mechanically sound, just cosmetically challenged. I spoke to my Nautique dealer about the boat today and got some numbers that am mulling over. In all likelihood I will just keep looking. I am also in discussions with a friend who bought my old 2008 Air Nautique Limited. Would love to have that one back.

Good looking boat! Yeah, the idea of a project is intriguing. I joke to my wife that I hate that we got a boat that I can't do ANYTHING to. Only thing I can do is wash, wax and clean the upholstery. I've been looking at deckadence or seadek. There are deals out there. I didn't pay much more for mine than what your guy is asking and it only has 170hrs.

I sold that 2008 SANTE when we moved from AZ to CA. I bought it new, only 35 hours when I sold it!!!

There is something to be said for NOT having a project. You get to go out and enjoy it. Grass is always greener.
