Finally, after years of saving, selling our Malibu and more sleepless nights than I know what to do with, we picked up our new 2017 G23. Of course it was not without drama. We got Lake Austin (Quinlan park). Off loaded the boat and with in a few minutes had a good vibration in the wheel and prop sounded strange. We were only at min power. Back on the boat thinking maybe a prop screw or something. Nope, **** red tarp looking thing. We think it was a tube cover or cover of some sort. Was not floating at the top at all. Salesman said first time in 30 years this has happened to him. He is also a friend. Thank goodness the cloth was not tight around the prob and came right off. Round two.. Back on the water 30 min later and going over the radio, bluetooth etc. Suddenly the radio has a mind of its own. Kinda connects to the phone, then goes to AM, then FM then Weather repeat. Volume showed stuck at 30 but it was controllable with the knob. Powered down, batt off and all back on. Worked for 20 min then went crazy again. It was time to go anyways and they said to stop by the store and they would do a re-flash of the computer system on it. We got there and a service tech checked out the prop. It was good to go, no issues. They also found a new firmware had just come in less than 2 days ago for the problems I was having. Its been an issue for a little bit. They updated the firmware on the boat, tested and away we went. They were nice enough to thrown in 4 bumpers, tie down ropes etc for the trouble. While it was super smooth today due to the tarp and computer issues, they were immediate to fix the issues and make sure I was taken care of. In the end, simple troubles were fixed quick. Sail and Ski in Austin Texas has been hands down amazing to work with.
Last learning point for me today...getting off the boat, on a wet ramp, with my Nike's on...I missed the transom step on the trailer and fell on my *** which was not fun by is the standard luck for me! PS. Boat is actually very large, I just drive a massive truck which dwarfs anything but hey, its Texas! :-)
Here are some photos.
