    Paint code

Whats the best way to find out the color code for your boat? Were going to re-powder coat our tower due to repair and would like to get the color as close as possible to the gel. Any help would be great.

Unless there is a specific universal color code like in auto industry, which I dought, I would start with the model brochure and find out the name nautique used for the gel coat color your wanting to replicate. Spectrum website could also be helpful as they call out the name and year models of the various nautique gel coats just search by manufacturer on there website. might be able to email them or nautique for a color recipe but at least you'll know the name nautique used for your color. I would visit your local powder coat shop and ask for a color brochure, more than likely they have a color that is darn close if not they should be able to help you with blending up a custom color that matches your gel coat.

I took my boat to an auto paint store (think it was a Dupont now Axalta?) where they used a "scanner" to get the color from my gel coat, and then mixed the paint to match the gel. They did a great job matching Orange Crush for me, probably the best way if your boat is what you have listed in your sig as the gel will have faded a bit (if it's not a garage queen.)

It cracked where you drilled a hole for the speaker wires. My guess is that it's from all the flexing and going over the waves the other weekend other then that idk what would have caused it.

a scanner will also help to match any fading that might have occurred - chances are that it probably isnt the same color that it was when it left the factory.
