    Water up nose!

I know this sounds weird, but never had this problem til lately. Getting water up my nose when I fall and its causing me at night to get majorly stopped up. Then goes away in a day or two. Like a lake nedi-pot!!!!
Anybody have this happen? Am I weird? Any solutions besides not falling? lol.

Get one of those swimmer's nose clips. Dont let anyone take a pic of you wearing it!

Part of the answer is you location. I have the same issue anytime I am on Lewisville and it has been worse the last year or so with the water so high. Most other locations I don't have near the issue.

Yup. Just had that happen last weekend. Really annoying since like you said takes a couple days to resolve. But doesn't happen enough to me to worry too much. My wife is so adamant about not getting the nose full of water that she always holds her nose with her hand before she falls. But as I tell her, about half the time it looks like she fell because she's trying to get her hand on her nose instead of focusing on not falling.

Ok what am I missing? how does the water level and/or location impact the occurrences of water up the nose?

I think what hes saying is since our water level is so high right now, you get more stuff in the water that sets off your allergies. Like pollen and other stuff.

This is correct. The water last year got into peoples home and septic lines. There is all kinds of crap in the water.

Ok makes sense. i suppose i was thinking the blast of water by itself was enough to cause the stopped up problem. I could see where bunch of crap in the water could definitely aggravate things.

Used to happen to me every time I did deep water barefoot starts or took head first falls of any kind . I used Afrin so I could sleep at night. A couple of pumps up each nostril and in 10 mins I could breath again. The mist works like a champ. Just don't over use it, or it can make the lining of your nose thin. It is a life saver.

We get it on the Sacramento river/delta sometimes too. We call it "river nose." I haven't gotten it in the last few years because I only surf now.

I didn't have this problem until I turned 27. Started being a big issue on deep water slalom starts. Now I just tuck my chin into my chest during the pull. Probably doesn't help you in a crash though.
