G23 Comes Off Trailer After Accident

From what I understand, everyone got through this without injury. Evidently the driver was sideswiped on the Interstate.

Anyone recognize the boat? This happened in Arizona today.

Wow. Glad to hear no one is hurt. The front of the trailer took a massive impact just by looking at how it is bent. This could have been worse.

For those going away this weekend, be careful out there.

Wow that truck took a major whack! Wonder if maybe the boat did some of that damage to the truck as it jack knifed? Glad no one was hurt.

Sad to see but thank God that everyone walked away alright (at least based on the info Jeff received).

Hopefully the family towing the boat has good insurance as he may have a Tow Vehicle that is not rated to "safely" Tow this boat.

What a tough way to start the weekend.

There has been a lot of sad boating related news the past month around the country. Let's hope Monday doesn't start out with sad news.

I am sure people will talk about this awhile, but does make you wonder how close to the recommended weight limits that set-up is... Thankfully (hopefully) everyone is ok.

Dang that's horrible! Like you all said could have been worse. Glad everyone is ok! They can only hope that the other person policy limits were not just what the state makes you have. Platinum 4x4 F150 50 to 60k and the G ??? Both are proably totals. Well the truck for sure.

He was definitely over the manufacturer's weight limit. Zero question there. The Ford towing guide clearly states that any trailer over 5,000 pounds requires a weight-distributing hitch. His trailer is not set up for weight distribution.

With weight distribution, that truck could have potentially been set up to tow up to 11,200 pounds.

Not saying that had anything to do with this particular incident, but it may come back to bite him when insurance and law enforcement get involved here.

I've been struggling with commenting on this. While I believe in tie-downs, IF the boat isn't a total loss it might be because it wasn't tied to the trailer. Kind of like being thrown clear of a car crash because you aren't wearing a seat belt. Not promoting lack of either seat belts or tie downs, just commenting on the situation

At freeway speeds, the tie downs probably would not have helped. I think they are most useful for moderate speed crashes. And who knows, maybe he was able to slow down before everything went south, and the tie downs would have helped, but I think not when you consider the momentum of that boat on the freeway.

That could have been so much worse. Glad to hear that the people are OK.
