Where is the starter on a Gs motor? Specifically how high up or low in the motor box. I have placed a call about a used G and the seller disclosed that the starter had to be replaced because it was "launched" without the drain plug. All other systems were dried. If it took on enough water to get to the starter, how much water would that be?

It is relatively low and it is an item that can be affected by external water if exposed and not then lubricated. I would certainly investigate the motor for other external signs of water damage and want to see the receipt for the starter replacement to make sure other items were not listed. But if everything else looked good, and we are talking fresh not salt water exposure, I would still consider the boat.

I'd be more concerned if we're talking about salt water. If you want to proceed maybe have your Nautique dealer do a full inspection. It's not a full guarantee but will provide some piece of mind.
