    Help on controlling spiders

Any of you have any suggestions on controlling spiders under the canopy of your boat lift and dock? I have read some use Phantom and that it will last for about 3 weeks. Going to try it this summer. We spray our home and land but can't spray shrubs that fall out over the water and then of course the dock and boat lift seems to get a lot of webs and spiders all over it.

    Suggestions please?

Try demand cs. It's the same stuff that the pest control experts use. You can buy it on the Internet. Just spray all around the dock and rafters.

The mosquito misters work like a charm, no mosquitos or spiders or bugs on my dock ever. The only bad thing is you're on the west coast and I can't imagine something like that is legal there.

We use Demon WP to keep the black widows away. We spray the house perimeter each spring. It works very well on spiders. http://www.demon-wp.com/

Don, I just had a mosquito mister guy out to quote my yard the other day. My biggest issues are really chiggers, fire ants, and scorpions. He said it works on chiggers, and is about 90% effective on fire ants, but I forgot to ask about scorpions. Do you have a scorpion issue out there? If so, have the misters helped? Last year I had about 20 scorpions I killed in my house. Only got stung once... by the first one, a little baby.

Also, do you use the synthetic or the natural chysanthemum-based stuff?

I think Billy the exterminator (TV show) used chrysanthemum

Doesn't sound like a good idea according to label:

              Environmental Hazards
This product is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. Do not apply directly to water, or to areas where surface water is present or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Do not contaminate water when cleaning equipment or disposing of equipment wash water. Apply this product only as specified on this label. Care should be used when making applications to avoid house- hold pets, particularly fish and reptile pets.

Btw, the chrysanthemum sprays have lower residual compared to bifenthrin from what I hear. Check out TalstarP for ticks, chiggers, scorpions, Mosquitos. And I can't stress enough to read the labels.

Heck that quart of Demon WP is 15 years old. I don't think the label could be read if I tried but I can tell you it works very well for spiders.
