Anybody tried bungee docking lines?

Do you ever have issues with folks using the dock whips to secure their boat and then the whips catching on the boat's tower when they go to leave or while they are docking?

I get about 0 guests with boats when I'm not there (or there for that matter if I'm out in the boat). If I'm there then my boat is on the whips. When I'm not there I put the whips in the house.
I do like to assist the rear whip rope over the windshield so as not to catch the mirror going out. Coming in the windshield brushes the rope to the side. I don't have a tower.

I first made an ascii art of my rope set up but the spaces got crushed.

Bungies are best! Definitely plan for a offset (4' & 6' for me as well) based on where you are tying off pylon etc. I put mine on to the anchor as well when floating.... stops the hard hits when rope tightens. On the dock boat drifts back and forth but doesn't slam back to dock.

They're more like shock absorbers.... My Boat is in water all (somewhat short up here) summer with them. Feel way better leaving the cabin on a Sunday night with boat tied with them for the week

This is a great thread! I try and attach three bumpers to my slip so I can go in and out without dealing with the time they take. I also measure the dock lines and cut them, so the loops are at perfect length to the cleats on boat and permanently tied to dock cleats at the other end of rope. Boat is in same position every time. I love the idea of the bungees and bought four airhead brand two 6' and two 4'.

My my questions will they hold a 210 using 2-3 of these lines? Is there a best brand? Looks like airhead, ronix, radar, nautique and jobe. I want these to be permanent lines, tied to the dock, in a cove on a fairly quiet lake. But, a bad storm can brew in a minute. Seems like tensile is over 2000lbs. Should that be enough with 2-3 lines holding snug? Sorry this is long winded. But, it's my latest thing to be neurotic about! Crazy how much time we put into these little things for our obsessions/hobby.
