2013 Bimini question

Anyone else getting holes in their biminis from where they overlap when they are in their folded and stowed position? I have them on both sides.

Nobody? I would find it hard to believe that I am the only person that has this issue.

I have encountered the same problem. I intend to talk with my dealer about it and bring it to Nautique's attention.

Thanks stub. My dealer has contacted Nautique and they didn't initially think it was a warranty issue and wanted more details from me about it, which I provided late last week. I haven't heard anything since but will let you know. I think it's a fault in the design and think it should be a warranty issue. I plan on putting a cut pool noodle over it in the mean time while stowed.

Mine not only rubbed a hole in the Bimini top but also rubbed into the support bar after getting through the Bimini. It happened while I was towing about 250 miles. Got it back to the lake house opened it up and there was the damage. When you fold the sides in they just lay on top and the only thing holding them in place is the cover that goes over them. They simply flop around and what we have experienced makes since. Definitely a design flaw and a warranty issue. My Boat heads to dealer on Friday so maybe once Nautique gets a second one with same problem it will help us both.

I will keep you informed. I don't tow long distances with my bimini up so I am surprised about this but looking at the design, it wouldn't take much to cause the holes. I'm surprised more people haven't chimed in here. I drop my tower and bimini for long drives.

I have pulled mine all over the East Coast this summer, and don't have this issue. The only thing that might be different about mine is that I drop the bimini and tower and cover the boat anytime it is towed, even short trips. I am not sure if that holds the bimini more securely, but I would guess that it might.

Jeff, that is how I tow mine over long distances as well. I couldn't figure out how to get the cover over the folded tower at first but found out I was just too weak and finally figured it out. LOL.
Unfortunately, the last time I towed this way the zipper handles on both sides broke off of the cover. Super strange. Nautique initially said they didn't want to cover that either. I have no explanation for it.

Wow, that is weird. I wonder how those broke off.

I absolutely love this cover design! I can't believe they aren't offering it in 2014. The 2014 covers are not able to be used in the two different modes (tower up or tower down) like the 2013 covers. You choose one or the other, and the cover will only work that way.

All that towing with the cover on and NO chafe or scrape marks? How tight do you rachet the cover on there??

I have just started noticing the faintest bit of chafe on the black accent stripe at the very top of the deck. I ratchet the cover literally until it won't go any tighter. I tow a pretty good number of miles in a year, and to just notice this now (the boat goes to the new owner in two weeks!) is great as far as I am concerned.

I have a demo with a guy that is probably going to do the 2014 PN boat deal in a few days. I'll probably let him pick colors and certain options, since it would be pre-sold. There are certain things I require on the PN boat, but it sounds like he wants to option it completely out, so it will be very similar to this year's PN boat.

It'll be another G23 with XS550 and a Ram-Lin trailer.

mine had the tears on a 2012 the first time I opened it. I never towed with it or used it. I must have happened in shipping from nautique. I never said anything.
