SN 196 closed bow front deck vents where does the water go ?

Just wondering how much water enters the boat from these vents and does this drain directly into the bilge. Wondering if this may be my source of excess water entering my bilge. ?It has been pretty rainy here in Vermont this summer and I'm wondering how much drainage these can accumulate as my cover does not cover the front of the boat. Thank you for info on this.

There is a channel, or a gutter, under the deck that goes from the port side vent to the starboard side. Then there is a large tube, four to six inch attached to an opening in the floor, just ahead of the driver kick panel.

It is more common for water to enter the vents, by hitting a wave that washes over the deck of the boat. Especially the wave that slides right up the windshield, and brakes about a foot above the windshield, before falling in your lap

I wouldn't think too much rain water would come in through the vents? Do you have a dripless drive shaft? If not, perhaps your shaft needs re-packing? It doesn't take long to notice that extra water once the shaft starts leaking.

By any chance, do you have the heater in your boat? If using it and the core is bad you will wind up with extra water. It will be rusty though. Just a thought. Had that problem with my old 196.
