G23 with XS550 motor water intake update

Okay, that's not what I was picturing at all! I was talking about the scoop your boat already had. I can see any real reason/benefit from that added scoop and that seems like a bunch of potential pressure put on 6 - #8 screws. I wold really like to hear the reasoning behind this.

Yeah that seems sketchy to me also. Is the intake perhaps to far forward on the boat that it doesn't get enough water pressure when on plane maybe???

That is what I am thinking ... It is not a very elegant solution from Nautique. My concern is water intake abilities in reverse, not that the boat is reversed a lot but if it is needed to avoid hitting the dock/other obstacle and is reversed hard will it cause an air bubble in the pump as it is closed at the back. As well I was thinking about debris hitting this and only having the 6 small screws which could rip off and create massive damage to the bottom of the hull.

JamesHawk101 do you have pictures of yours that is open at the back?

Jeff did you talk to White Lake Marine about this? Are they also installing it when they are doing your NSS?

I'll get a photo tomorrow for you. My boat is on a lift so it is kinda hard to get under it.

I did talk to White Lake about this. We decided that since my boat is not having any issues, we would leave it alone.

I kind of wish I would have known what it was and rejected it. My boat did not have any issues, however only got ~20 Hrs on it last year. My dealer told me it was mandated from Nautique for any boats with the 550 motor. What were the issues that White lake said would warrant this install?

I am willing to bet White Lake will install it before it goes to the new owner at the end of the season. We just had enough going on yesterday that we didn't see the need to install it right then.
