NSS Surf System on 200V vs Malibu VTX

Does anybody know if this is coming out on te 200V? I was close to pulling the trigger on a 200V when someone told me to check out the Malibu 200 VTX. We slalom every chance, but want to surf with family.

Took one out and you could get a nice surf wake with 3 people in the boat. Boat stayed flat and you literally switched from normal to goofy at the touch of a switch.

Fit and finish not as good as cc. But the ease of use was something else.

I've only heard rumors at this point. Considering they sell a lot of 200 sports, it would make sense that they add it/retrofit. You would need a 2012 or newer for it to "play nice" with the linc system. The stock surf wake on the 200 is quite good, albeit the pocket isn't very long. I have not skied behind a VTX yet (I've heard good things), but the slalom wake on the 200V is amazing at lengths shorter than 22' off.

Most of the Skiing my Family does is 15 off or Full Line Length for my wife (trying to get her shorter). I heard that 22 off is tough but shorter and longer are ok on the 200V? The VTX at 15 off puts you just behind the rooster at 30MPH plus.

Don't expect an NSS retro kit on the 200. Just look at the back of the boat and you will understand why. It's not an easy engineering feat.

VTX with surfgate is a very nice option. I think you will prefer slalom on the 200 and surfing on the VTX. I think it might just come down to which sport you prefer to emphasize.

Thanks for the input. Seems like cc is missing a market segment if they are going to forego surfing dominance to Malibu on the 20 footer. I understand that there is comprimise on dd vs v. As my first dedicated watersport boat, I didn't want to have to forego a Nautique to get the best all around in a 20 footer. I was hoping CC would figure out a solution.

I'd strongly reccomend you go to Malibu Dealer and do a demo on the VTX w/ Surfgate.... Yep it's improved with the Surfgate and delayed convergence technology.... But it is a tiny wave still with everything I've seen. Other than a novelty, not much of a surf boat until you get into the 21 VLX.

just reccomend you get a demo an get behind one and ensure that is what you are looking for.

i'll also add that NSs is a superior concept as compared to Surfgate, as you are not limited with NSS in sac'ing it out to the height of the gates and water coming over the top of them.

not trying to dissuade you... Just be advised few folks would consider that an awesome surf wave.

I have to say, I have spent some serious time behind a vtx with a custom sack in it. It by far put out a better wake than another vlx I have been on. I think set up right with the surfgate it would be a decent wave for a 20foot boat.

I am hoping we see some type of NSS for the 200V soon. I keep holding off on ordering more ballast because I know the moment I do they'll announce the NSS. A 750lb sac in the port locker on top of the hard tanks is good for now though. If no NSS comes out I'll probably pull the hard tanks and put in 1100s.

Just got the definitive word on NSS for the 200V. Definitely not for 2014.

Not suprising. I wonder if they will redesign the 200V aft section to allow for an NSS system. I don't see any retrofit kits for previous models. Just my 2 cents. -Marc

Look at the 200v hull from the rear. How would you engineer an NSS system to work on that? There is no doubt that the hull will have to be re-shaped if NSS is to be incorporated onto this boat. -Marc

Couldn't they just make the NSS smaller?

I don't see the issue. There is room.
