I have nothing bad to say about moomba. And I don't think anyone including Moomba owners would say they are of the same quality. That said in the "bang for the buck" category it is not a bad option. For me personally, I would pick my price point and shop for Nautiques in that price range, buying an older model if necessary over a moomba, but for someone that wants "more boat" for less money they are not a bad option. I suspect moomba owners have "almost" as much fun at the lake as Nautique owners do. :-)

My daughters "other family" (x wife) bought a moomba mobius XLV new 5-6 years ago and love it. They are not "hard core" boat enthusiast and saved alot of cash over a new "big three" (really 2 exclude whom you will) boat. It was probably the right choice for them. For others who take boating and wake sports more seriously, or want a boat to keep longer then the term of their loan Nautique is the better choice.

If you factor in what you purchase for and what you sell for the cost of ownership on a CC could ultimately be less. You may get in with less money but that is also how you will probably get out as well, with a lot less.

Many factors here but depending on their plan of ownership, the CC could end up being cheaper.

Wrong place to ask such a question. Just like the Moomba forum. Most everybody here is wearing HUUUUGGGGEEEE Nautique-glasses. Let your friend take the Moomba out and drive it and ride behind it, and do the same with a similar priced Nautique. Of course the Nautique will be better built, but there's nothing wrong with a Moomba. If I were him I'd also look at the other brands. He's not wearing those glasses (yet), so take advantage of it.

P.S. Don't get me wrong, I'd choose the Nautique.

I think a lot of it depends on what your buddy wants out of his boat. ie. Does it want to fill it with people and go out a party all day or does he want a wake machine that is a true dedicated wake boat? Does he want to care for and maintain his boat or does he want to just use it and put it away wet?

What I am trying to get at is if he is a 'boat person' and wants something that will last and is a labor of love, by the Nautique. If he wants a boat but isn't a 'boat person' or he isn't going to take the time to wipe it down and care for it meticulously he might be better off with a Moomba. They are both great boats and I don't think he can go wrong either way. I believe it comes down to what he wants out of the boat.

An analogy to what I am trying to say might be like the difference between a car person and a not car person. There will be a guy who wants a car to get to work and doesn't really care, he drives a Camry. Then there will be the guy who is passionate about cars and wants a 1967 Shelby GT. Neither person is wrong in what they bought, but they each have different reasons for buying what they did.

Maybe talk to him a little while about boats and see what his take on them are. I bet in about 10 minutes of talking with him you can determine what kind of 'boat person' he is, thus helping to make a choice. Again, it comes down to what he wants out of the boat.

Hopefully my Nautique glasses were not showing too much.

I hope they stiffened the hull - my 97 open bow Moomba Outback had a lot of hull flex. The flip over windshield would drop into the walk thru area when the boat hit a big wake.
ALL boat forums are lame compared to PN. I've seen the malibucrew and the centurioncrew sites and they are just terrible compared to this one. I really enjoy this site because it isn't all about dogging other companies like the other ones are (especially MC)

This is an Ironic statement. Moomba is getting trashed pretty hard in this thread (by myself included). And you single MC out as the worst brand bashers, yet, this is the most recent MC vs. Nautique thread on teamtalk.....http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/...ad.php?t=53256 I have frequented this site for a while, and nobody is pulling punches on PN either..... I am not ashamed to say that I think a Nautique is a far better boat than a Moomba, but PN members are just as brand loyal as any other. I see plenty of MC bashing here. Way more than any other brand. Lets not kid ourselves here. P.S. Flame suit on

Maybe it's just that every time I talk to a MC dealer/owner they never talk about what is good about their boats...they only say that Nautiques and BUs are worse. I understand that over here on PN we are still brand loyal but there is also a LOT of other stuff we talk about; unlike the other forums who spend most of the time talking trash about the other companies.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see Moomba getting thrashed too bad in this thread? It's a great price point boat. As far as MC, I think most PN members have a lot of respect for the brand. Our family owns both right now. We've owned 10 MC's now to date (5 total CC's). We've been more satisfied with the CC's for a number of reasons. However, I bet I'm more excited to see the 2014 Prostar than 90% of MCTT.

Lol it took me 17 years after the divorce to get the Nautique.

So your signature is wrong for the 06'. You have it listed as sold!!!!

Sorry to hear it took 17 years.

If your looking for Bang for Buck look at MB Sports. Still not a Nautique, but they use PCM, have great wakes and do ok in reliability. Interior build quality is not on pair with Nautique IMHO though.
