The 230 has a pop up tow ring in the rear transom that I use because I have a big 4 person tube that I don't really trust on the tower. However on my last boat I put an aftermarket tower on there and it pulled the tube just fine. I believe the tower WOULD hold up to the tube but I'm scared to hurt my baby

Thanks for all of the replies. Some good ideas here like running it off the pylon through the back pilot so the rope doesn't swing back and forth over the rear seats.
Ideally I would prefer to pull from the tower because that's where it's most fun you get the most air :-). I was concerned about the stress on the tower. My brother-in-law has an older 94 ProStar and the gelcoat is cracking around his tower mounts. Honestly I don't know, and I don't think he knows for sure that it's from pulling tubes but he's concerned enough about it that he doesn't pull tubes from his tower anymore.

AirTool I know you and I both have the 206 and if you pull off the tower with no issues then I think I won't worry about it.

Question, do you have the factory tower? I have a Titan 3 tower. If we have different towers anybody care to know if they attach to the deck in the same locations? I'm pretty sure this Titan 3 tower was installed by the factory but I could be wrong on that.

I'm just going to say that 94 MC was not made to have a tower or the stresses of the tower on the deck which is probably why it's cracking. My wake buddies can pull my 86 very far over on its side while cutting out and I doubt tubes put that type of stress on it under normal circumstances. I still don't pull from mine but then again it's just a Fly High pole.

Has anyone ever seen a rear lift ring and/or its mounting point on the boat damaged due to stress/load from pulling anything?

I ask so as to consider it as an option for a pulling A tube.

Yes, I use the pop up as well for the same reason.
However, I also have this monster tube:

And what I see is that it's so heavy that it actually messes up my rudder when I am turning - so much that I needed to reset the tabs on the rudder.
Got so fed up that it now just stays tied up from the dock so the kids can use it as a trampoline...

That tube is a MONSTER!!!! I didn't think it was that big until I saw the pic of the people riding it! My tube is a four person but it is one that lays out like a big pancake; plus, we only use it when there is a large group on the boat, otherwise, we aren't tubing.

If you have "pancake tubes" 1-2or3 people size you'll be fine with the tower. we pull a obrian 140cm tube on the tower with a big bertha tube on the pylon. no problems.

Don't pull from the lifting eye. If you pull that black cover in the trunk off and see how its installed, its for vertical loads only. It has some strength in the other direction but using it for tubes is asking for trouble...especially if the nut backs off any.

I am surprised to read how the pylon is not the end all, I thought if anything would be over-built that would be the spot-
Many similar threads point to this; light duty on the tower and eye hook (which make sense), but I guess I would have expected to see more- pull whatever watersports toys you want from the pylon...
We pulled tubes behind the 205 and was never gentle or worried about 2-4 or whatever off the pylon... more about safety of double ups/other boaters-
