I was driving to a clients today and saw this sitting in the Nautique Dealers service line. I had never heard of this model. Was it popular and what years was it around? Just fascinated by old Correct Craft's and wanting to see what anyone knows.

There were only 4256 made, with much fewer still around. The same year there were 8538 Ski Nautiques made. That particular boat was made for five years.

Hey Kevin_B,
Hello from Jonesborough! I was over at Performance last week and saw that boat as well. I had to look twice because the only Separators I've seen have the double windshield (like Batman's boat) but this one did not. They also tended to have a V drive as well. I didn't look close enough to see if the was DD or V drive.

The early separators had the batboat (bubble) windshields, then for a year or two you could opt for the flat or the bubbles and then at the end of the run just the flat. CC also branded this boat as a Torino, that always had the flat windshield and that model was not available for the full run that the separator was. The separator and torino both came in an I/O version and the v-drive, but never direct drive. There was also a "Spoiler" label on some separators, but I am not sure what distinguished the Spoiler, tho I think it had to do with engine options. There are a few separators and a few torinos in the diaries over at CCF. Holman Moodies were common in these boats and they really screamed. Early on, the exhaust had about a 1 foot run from the manifold to the transom, then in later models, they routed the exhaust out the front of the engine and looped it around under the manifolds to give it a longer run. You can tell the difference by there being either high mounted or low mounted exhausts on the transom. Jeff, I am not doubting your numbers, but I am surprised to hear that over 4,000 were made, as scarce as they are today. Very cool boats, in my opinion.Originally posted by Excel94 View PostHey Kevin_B,

My numbers were just from research on the web. I do not know how reliable they are. Please do not PM me directly asking for advice on how to repair your boat. Hey Tim,
seeing as you are in Jonesborough you wouldn't happen to own an old correct Craft Mustang. I'm around that area a lot and I have seen this old Mustang in someones backyard, not far down the Road from Crockett high school. I have an idea what kind of boat you have from your screen name but I had to ask.
What lake do you normally use?

Hey Kevin,
No, that's not my Mustang although I live only a couple of minutes from Crockett. Where is it at I'll keep my eyes open for it (don't worry I won't move in on it.... I'm a definite post '93 no wood stringers guy). I only moved here a little more than a year ago but I know some folks who have been here forever and they seem to know everybody. So if you want me to do some recon for you let me know.
I usually go to Watauga even though Boone is much closer. Less folks and can usually find some good water. My family rented a cabin there this weekend as a matter of fact. If my fat Sacs come in tomorrow when they are scheduled I will get to see what kind of surf I can get from my Excel.
From you avitar looks like you do some surfing, where do you go?

Hey Tim,
That boat is off a side street near Bacon Branch Rd, I found it one day on the way to Jack Fitzwater Lumber for work. Felt weird going through someone's backyard to snap a pic. I'm not interested in purchasing, just like old CC's and I doubt they know what they have.
I just moved down hear as well. I found a condo on Boone Lake so I do most of my riding there. I can deal with the weekend craziness to have the boat in the water. Been wanting to take a trip to Watagua just hasn't happened yet. South Holston is awesome if you ever get the chance.
Shoot me a Pm or a call sometime, always enjoy riding with new people. Oh yeah and I love some surfing, finally figured out how to weight my Sport and the surfing is decent. I bet your Excel will rock.1990 Sport Nautique

Kevin and Excel, I actually saw this boat and taked to the owner this weekend on Boone. He told me the boat was originally orange and he planned to return to stock color this winter. His cousin or husband of his cousin owns another sperator that he has up at Watauga. He said he usually just takes it out on the 4th of July. They told me there were three in this area and they have at one time owned them all. Oh yeah, this boat sounds wonderful.

Hey guys, I know this post is kinda old but I just so happened across it and that boat should be back on Boone Lake next summer. The owner mentioned in the replies(my dad) actually just gifted the boat to me and I’m in the process of getting it running again, sat for about 13 years. The original color was orange and may return at some point. There were actually only 2 separators in the tri cities, my dads and my cousins which was red with the bubble windshield that he no longer owns. This is to my knowledge the only Separator in the tri cities now. 1971 Correct Craft Separator Torino, 351 Holman Moody V - Drive
