What's up everyone. New guy on the block. So I bought a 1986 nautique yesterday. Nice boat looks good. Looks like a lot of work was done to it. New engine and trans installed in 2003. 200 hours on them and 800 on boat. So I went out with the family today. She ran great. Lots of power. Started towing a tube around with 3 teenagers and out of the blue the steering felt like it went out. I was turning right and she went left. I put it in neutral and looked under the dash. Don't know what I was looking for but everyone else thought I knew!!! Everyone off the tube back in the boat and drove her. It idles perfect gave it gas took off and when I gun it she starts off good then bogs/hesitates. Feels like something is dragging. I slow her down to 5-10 mph and runs fine. It does not feel like a fuel issue. When it boggs I feel like The boats out of control. Hope this makes sense. Any help would be very appreciated.

I'm sorry but it doesn't make too much sense to me.
You say "the steering felt like it went out. I was turning right and she went left" and then " It idles perfect gave it gas took off and when I gun it she starts off good then bogs/hesitates. Feels like something is dragging. I slow her down to 5-10 mph and runs fine. It does not feel like a fuel issue." like it's a drivetrain/power issue.
Is the problem the steering or the bogging?

Bogging and Steering
I have an 86 as well. A few years back I had the steering go out on me needed a new steering cable. But if you are able to steer at idle I'm not sure what to tell you. As for the bogging sounds like the carberator to me.
