on the old 230/236, the batteries were just in front of the engine but still under the sundeck. where did correct craft move them to on the more recent years?

my 2008 230 has them in the front of the engine compartment. that new config of having them under the port and starboard back seats sounds like it really sucks and wastes a lot of space in those compartment. seems like a dumb move for them.

They're recessed into the floor under each of those little removeable seats in the rear corners of the cabin. I didn't like the configuration until I realized that, by removing the factory batteries, as well as the plastic battery boxes that they come in from the factory, I was able to just drop in two XS Power Batteries D3100 AGM batteries. Now, I can jam my stereo for 6 hours straight without it popping or cutting out. Because the batteries are recessed into the floor, you don't lose much space. Now losing the entire belly storage is another issue alltogether for the 2010's.Originally posted by TRO View Postmy 2008 230 has them in the front of the engine compartment. that new config of having them under the port and starboard back seats sounds like it really sucks and wastes a lot of space in those compartment. seems like a dumb move for them.2012 Axis A22 - on order

No it is not near the amps. They are under the starboard and port *REAR* seats.
As for taking up more storage space, they take up a little of it however they are recessed down underneath the bottom of the seat and only the very top part of the battery and cover stick up into the storage area. It really isn't that bad and you can still put some stuff over the batteries with the covers on them.

Not to hijack, but you lose the entire ski locker/belly storage in the 2010? Is that because of the larger hard tank? If so, I am glad that I have an 09 as I can always put a bag in there for more weight. However have the option to store stuff there when it is not filled.Originally posted by Chattwake View PostNow losing the entire belly storage is another issue alltogether for the 2010's.

Chattwake and any one else with a 2010 230, if you did not all ready know you have to hit the fill switch twice and empty twice because the timer is set for pre 2010 front ballast which were about 200 pounds lighter2013 G23 super air

hmmmm...all interesting.
i just bought 8 group 27 AGMs. was going to replace my oem batteries in my 07 236 w/ 2 x AGMs, but they wont fit in the OEM battery trays in front of the engine. I am going to move them into those same little cubbies as the new boats, but not recess them (read too much work).
the other 6 are going in the belly locker to power my little system...and add 438 lbs of "ballast" to the nose hahaha...
