No colored 200 deck. Why does CC take one step forward and then one back?

I'm was interested in trading in my 04' RLXI BU for a closed bow 200. Much to my dismay, I can order the boat pretty much any color I want; however the top deck only comes in white only. I don't understand CC and their Henry Ford mentality (you can get a model T in any color...as long as it's black).

Most of the other boat manufacturers let their customers to choose the colors of their boat, without limitations! Even Moomba offers that to the customer. The last year of the 196, cc offered a colored deck, now it's "you can get it white, or you can get it white".

I don't know why they don't offer colored decks.

But I had a black deck on a recent boat. I ordered the new one same colors except went with the white deck. I found it easier to keep the hull scratch free than the deck. Ski's bumping it, seats resting on it etc would drive me crazy. The white hides these IMO.

They wouldn't limit choices if it wasn't a business decision. Either it costs more than it's worth or there is a manufacturing issue that has yet to be worked out. Companies are in the business to make money and I'm sure one way or another it's a business decision not offer the colored decks.

Not sure what you mean? I'm getting a top deck color. Or, are you talking about having the entire top of a closed bow colored?

The model used in all of the promotional shots has a colored deck. Better check your sources.

All I can find in the promo shots are boats with a colored deck stripe, I haven't seen one with a solid deck color (unless you want to count white as a color). If you go to the Nautique website and go to "build it" - the "solid deck" option is greyed out so you can't select a color for the top deck, you can still select a color for the deck stripe. Maybe they'll offer it again later.

Makes no sense. I personally would not have one due to scratching and my mental health but if somebody wanted one why not? Can't be any harder to shoot a deck than a hull right?
I wonder what would happen if you asked? I can't see anyone turning down a sale these days.

Not sure how true this is, but I heard in the past that they didn't offer the colored decks due to the effects of the sun on the gelcoat and the possibility of having to cover it under warranty. Don't know where I heard that or how true it is though, especially since they offered colored decks on the DD's for the past couple of years.

My souce would be the CC "build it"website. Better check your glasses, all of the boats have a WHITE top deck and on the"build it" , as stated above, selecting a color is not an option. Hopefully, by 2011 this will not be an issue. I was lucky enough to ski behind & drive the 3rd 200 and was quite impressed. I plan on ordering / buying a promo boat , so I'm strarting to just work out the details.

And think of all those contrasts on the deck: windshield, rub rail, cleats, seat backs, lights, gas cap, etc. With all the holes drilled and hardware attached on the deck vs. the hull, there are also MANY more chances of cracking the gelcoat, which leads into...

                      Fortunately, I'm content with white!

I have ordered my new 200 and getting a colored deck is an option, for an extra $800. Didn't order it that way. Not worth the money, and worried about scratches. Just ask a dealer.

I think he is asking about the top deck of a closed bow 200, which they do not offer. I am getting colored top deck on my 200 OB, but it is only a stripe above the rub rail and covers the top of the transom.

The 200's deck is different than other models in that the deck has two colors, white and your choice. From the rub rail up to where it starts to curve to horizontal you can choose the color, from the curve on into the boat it is white. I think the reason for doing this is so that all of the gelcoat inside of the boat is white and there isnt a funny transition of color or a solid goofy color on the interior. I personally like it better white, I think that other colors make it look cheap. My buddy's MC has red gel coat on the inside and it just looks cheap. Anyway here are some pictures of where you can see the deck color change from black to white, or whatever colr you choose to white.
