    The bump is significantly lower.

Let me say this, my buddy is old school and never falls for marketing hype.

When he sat down after his first pass, he was all smiles and said, "that's real nice."

I wish I could have taken some video, but I was driving while he skied.

I took some additional pics of the interior.

I probably can't give you a real honest review of the pull as I only took one set, but I will say that both of us got near our PB by just jumping in the water completely unfocused and ripping it.

I'll be curious to see how people deal with their edge change as the wake is so soft and wide...

I think world records will fall behind this boat and the legacy of the premium slalom machine will continue.

Yes, the short-nosed CB is basically gone forever, but if it's any consolation - the view from the drivers seat is still exceptional.

    If the 196 was a 10 out of 10 (drivers view), the 200 is a 9.

You don't have the same sensation you do when driving a MC or Bu where you have to look out and over the bow.

You will notice a difference in the agility of the boat - it is bigger after all than the 196, but it's still more agile than then 197.

      Great review. Thanks!

I'm real curious what the promo guys will do this year with OB vs. CB.

ScarlettArrow, thanks for that review. With that, and seeing the CB version, I'm pretty excited to see this boat soon. I can't believe a teak platform isn't an option. The inlay stuff looks nice, but I don't think you can beat the beauty of teak. Perhaps it's a weight issue???

Most promo guys are sitting with their 08s. Could be a pricey upgrade.

I know boat sales are down due to the economy so the 08 196s are already having a tough time being sold.

How much does the introduction of the 200 further degrade the price of 08 & 07 196s?
I would guess it doesn't have much effect beyond those years, but I could be wrong.

The 200 might actually boost sales of the '07-'09 196. The 200 is going to be amazing, but it will also be more expensive and radically different than a 196. Some are guessing this will increase demand for the 196.

I agree. The increase in cost for the 200 and the fondness for the 196 should drive up 196 demand.

Exactly, the guy said they dropped 30% of the overall platform weight (by moving away from teak).

This is just my guess, but I agree. As good as the new 200 is, some will look back a decade from now at a late model 196 with fondness as one of the greatest slalom boats ever...especially in terms of driving and the classic CC look. My hope is that this will increase demand.

                            CD,
You would think that would help move the 08s.
76k for a ski boat. I need to go back in time and pick a cheaper hobby.

So was the $76K the MSRP or the price paid? If it's the price he paid, then yes, that's a little excessive for a ski boat in my opinion and should help the 196s.
