    Mastercraft vs Nautique Pricing

I haven't been on this forum long enough to know if there is a big rivalry between Mastercraft and Nautique owners. Either way, nice boats I'm sure. I rode behind a friends X15 and it's a great boat, and when I started looking for boats a couple of months ago I approached Mastercraft because I heard they would "do anything to sell a boat". I was shocked at their pricing, it's on crack, and I cannot figure out why.

I was looking at X-Stars and X-15s (familiar with x15). They were asking over 80k (close to 90) for a new X-15 which is insane because you can buy them new in Canada for around 70k. I was then looking at X-stars, and the 08's were all in the 75k range USD. It seems like Mastercraft has waaaaay more inventory than Nautique yet their pricing is way higher. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I finally "settled" on an 08 210 Team Edition for way less than an 08 X15. Makes no sense to me... Is it me?

RS - At the end of the day you made the right choice and welcome to the family. I have driven the X15 and the floats being there are NO fins on the bottom. You have to load in heavy to get it to track well.

Post some pics of the new family member.

We must be one with the universe the boat I was going to buy was a 08 X15 .
I went through all the testing and went so far as to sit down in the back office
to make a deal. That is when they dropped the bomb on me. For a new 08 X15
pretty loaded with a 6L engine ,standard tandon trailer was over 90k. I asked
for their best price since it was already Oct the best they could do was 75k
Plus tax freight and prep. Total out the door over 80k .
Not only that but they got outraged when I told them I found other simalar
boats 10-15 k less on the Internet. We left bashed, insulted ,and bewildered at the
attitude of the dealer. They acted like I owed them to allow me to buy a MC.
After that I made an appointment to drive a 230 Its a great boat I love everything
about it except it has too large of a ski wake.
We then drove a 210 all wakes are great. We got a 08 clearance boat out of
California my local dealer found for us. And we paid no where near 80k
I guess I owe it all to MC if they had not been so hard to deal with I would
be writing this on MC Team. I know now even if the price was the same
it would have been a big mistake to go with the X15 over the 210.

I will post pics when I get my new lift and cover installed. I have a life and cover already, but the 210 won't fit in the slip, so we're building another next to it. I might get a ranger for the slip we'll see. I can't see myself fishing from the Nautique

First of all I'm a Nautique guy but, the X15 is a really nice boat. My buddy paid mid 70's for his X15 and I thought that was extremely overpriced.

i guess it's a good thing we all own nautiques. at least our boats will have a little resale value.

The X15 is a great boat - but seriously, is it better than a 210 TE? I think not! It makes zero sense. ..and Gride300 is exactly right, the resale on Nautiques will be higher for two reasons -- 1) Low inventory -- 2) Mastercraft high inventory and high retail.

MasterCraft's pricing is insane. I can attest to that. I saw left over 08 X-2 and X-15 at the boat show priced well above what I paid for an 09 210 Team. Don't get me wrong, MC makes a nice boat but they will continue to struggle until they come back to reality with pricing. Nautiques should also come down just a little too, IMO.

I was always told Nautique were more expensive than Mastercraft. I wasn't even going to look for a Nautique.

These stories are the opposite of what our MC dealer is doing. Last year they were pushing below 50 on an 07 X-2, close to that for an 08, and other MC models were similarly fire sale priced. At the boat show this Feb they were talking about $2-5k below CC for comparable boats. Maybe we just have a more discriminating buyer community here and they know they can't compete at the higher prices :-)

                          Where is here?
The MC dealer still has the 08 X15 I looked at in Oct 08 along with 49 other non currant MC boats.
They are still trying to get 75k plus tax for it. I realy like the size of the X15 but no way can it perform
like the 210 even if the 210 cost more I would still buy it. One test drive and game over.

hunter, are you talking about the sticker price or what they actually want to give you the boat for before tax? i had an 05 x-2 w/ single axel trailer for 53000 out the door brand new. being the awesome guys they are a few months later they announced it's now the x-1 and costs 39,995 base but still had tower and racks, etc. when i went to get rid of my POS lemon i got less than 40 with the trailer b/c why buy an older boat when you can get the same one with a 1 on it instead of 2. i was very upset but now life is good and i'm a nautique man for life. i'd buy a moomba before an mc.

The X15 listed out for over 90k with 4 tower speakers, attitude plate,heater,6L engine, cover, Bimini and
standard tandem trailer. Best price out the door 75k plus tax. It wasn't the price that drove me away from MC.
I could have found a like new used but the attitude I saw at multiple dealers I could see how things would be after I got the boat .
