The 09 MC 197 is 180 pounds heavier than the 190 with all other advertised specs being identical including the capacity of 7 people or 1,087 pounds.

We have been rotating skiing behind a 92 MC 190, a 97 SNOB and an 09 206 each week for several now and an 08 Malibu LXI yesterday. The MC 190 closed bow does have the smallest wake of these 4 boats and I'm also interested to find out the differences between the 190 & 197.
The 91--94 PS 190 had spectacular slalom wakes. The current 197 (I haven't skied a current 190) does better with spray and creature comforts, but the wake is a bit larger. I don't think there's a thing wrong with the current MC's. I just happen to prefer the 196 for slalom, both behind the boat and in the driver's seat. As few closed bows as MC is producing, when I was shopping, there just happened to be a lot more 196's in my price range, which didn't help the chances of my getting another MC.
1998 Ski Nautique (Red/Silver Cloud), GT-40, Perfect Pass Stargazer 8.0z (Zbox), Acme #422, Tunable Rudder.

Agree on the '92 - '95 MC PS190 wakes...arguably some of the best slalom wakes ever to be crafted...!! However, for many other reasons, I would not give up my 196. I too am really looking forward to seeing what this new boat will be. My dealer also mentioned to me CC is looking at an open bow tournament boat somewhere between a 196 and 206...and this was told to me 3 years ago...! At the time, I didn't think too much about it.
        Peace..
