ZR6 or 343 for new Super Air 230 Team?

Trying to justify if spending an extra $4,500 something is worth it.

    My uses for the boat:

    1. Wakeboarding
    2. Wakeskating
    3. Surfing
    4. Cruising

Would the ZR6 be less fuel efficient compared to the 343 in a 230 TE?

GO ZR-6 By the time you spent full throttle getting up to plane with the 343 you will have sucked more fuel than with the ZR-6. We only put ZR-6's in our 230s and 236s. plus if you are adding extra weight to surf or wakeboard you will love having the extra power.

Drive the NEW 343. Much improved over the 330

ZR6 with the Acme 1234(5) prop and you will be in Nirvana.

No regrets. No second guessing. No should've, would've and could've's.

I have the ZR-6 in my '07 211 and I am glad. On Saturday for an end of day ride we all piled in the boat (4 adults and 4 kids) and gear and it had plenty of power to pull me.

I have a ZR6 in a 220 and it doesn't seem to be burning a ton of gas. We went out last week, put 1.2hrs on the meter and burned 5.2 gal. That isn't that bad in my opinion. I also thought the 330 had plenty of power but ended up going for the 375 since I keep my boats for a long time and didn't want to wonder what it would be like ... not really a good logical reason.

I second what crad said. the new 343 setup with the power prop is a great combo.

Put ten hours on our new '08 230 this weekend, and the 343 worked perfectly. Six adults, six kids, full ballasts, etc, and it never seemed taxed at all.

When I asked one of the largest Nautique dealers in the country which one he recommended, he said the 343 is the only thing he orders (unless it's a special request) as the only discernable difference is 2-4 more mph.

                        You forgot +$4,500.

By 'discernable difference' I meant in the handling of the boat.

IM by no means and expert but I have driven an 03 Bu' with the 340hp, my old 06'VLX w/ the 340 hp motors and they are NO comparison to my ZR6. Under load (surfing, boarding) the ZR6 takes ALOT less throttle go get on plane. Plus it really frickin quiet.

"When I asked one of the largest Nautique dealers in the country which one he recommended, he said the 343 is the only thing he orders (unless it's a special request)"
Find this hard to believe that you would power a fully loaded 230 with 6 people and full tank of gas and ballast totalling 6835lbs with the entry level motor for that boat?

Lets be honest, if you got the cash to spend $70K on a boat what is 4K???

big engine. it's only like an extra 1800$ and on that boat you'll be glad you went extra

I think I will go with the ZR-6 it looks like older nautiques with the ZR6 are resaling about $1,500-$2,000 higher than nautiques with the 330 engine.
