I beleive the bolt in question is the one that holds the clampblock pivot to the stringer in the back of the boat This bolt goes through the stringer ans holds the piece that the steering cables attaches to. This bolt if loose needs to be tightened and ideally needs to have locktite applies to it to prevent it from ever coming undone. I replaced mine in the 66 and there are 4 bolts that hold 2 plates togeather. On one end is the pivot and the other is where the steering cable mounts. As you turn the wheel the cable slides in and out and moves the rudder arm back and forth. It also pivots side to side. If the bold came completely undone you would lose all steering. Hope this helps.

      Rick,
It is not the clamp that has 4 bolts holding two plates together. The bolt is located in between an aluminum piece that sticks off from the side of the stringer. The bolt threads into a black piece. The wrenches needed are 3/4 and 7/8 to do the job.

        "flex"

ggates, heard of the "brace" kit but NOT for 206. Understand 1 installed in a vdrive but only 1 heard of. Wonder if w/shield needs reinstall, gap too big where it touches driver side w/s? Dealr may need to chek w/ midwest correctcraft.
