I too was under the impression that line just drained into the bilge. Do your boats have two bilge pumps? Maybe that's what the extra thru-hull is for.

My friend who is a PCM mechanic was the one who straightened me out. According to him, the two thru hulls are for each bilge pump... one in the engine compartment and the other in the area below the back seat.
