Hello,
The motor starts and runs for about 10–15 minutes, then stops and won’t restart. Sometimes it shuts off while idling. Other times, it won’t restart after being turned off. When it fails to restart, it typically won’t start for several hours; then after about 3–4 hours it will restart and run again for another 10–15 minutes.

When it won’t start, the error code displayed is “Emergency Kill Switch.” We’ve checked the switch and even tried jumpering it out, but we have not replaced the switch yet. Is the switch supposed to show a resistance value of approximately 2.0 kΩ when it is not closed? We’re only seeing either an open circuit or a closed circuit (0 Ω). We’ve also seen some switches that read around 2.2 kΩ when not engaged.

When it won’t crank, all voltage measurements read 12.3 VDC at the battery, the engine, inside the engine fuse box, etc. However, the display unit always shows 0.0 volts when it won’t start, as if a 12 VDC circuit is open somewhere.

Hot wire kit tests. When we install the hot wire kit, the Fuel Pump and Ignition relays engage, but the Starter Relay does not. If we jumper out the Starter Relay contacts, the engine will crank.

So, does the hot wire kit bypass the Emergency Kill Switch? Also, what actually triggers the Starter Relay? Does the ECM command the starter relay, or is it activated through a chain of switches/components (e.g., keypad, circuit breakers, interlocks, etc.)?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently rebuilding a PCM ZZ6 6.2L direct injection engine (2021) from a Nautique G23, and I’m trying to track down the exact camshaft specifications.
I’m specifically looking for detailed cam specs such as:

Duration @ .050 (intake/exhaust)

Lift

LSA (lobe separation angle)

Any known differences from the OEM GM L87 ca

I understand PCM doesn’t publicly release this information, but I’m hoping someone here might have:

Measured one directly

Access to internal PCM data

Or confirmed equivalency with a GM part numbe

My goal is to stay as close as possible to the original PCM setup (no aftermarket performance cam), so accuracy matters.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

My 2007 Ski Nautique isn't drawing in cooling water.

I winterized the boat and when returned to operation, noticed the analog temperature gauge wasn't functioning. Based on advice in another thread, I replaced the thermostat.

Can replacing the thermostat & gasket cause an air leak that is creating my issue? T-stat is downstream of the impeller. I did re-snug thermostat bolts, the was gasket installed dry. Should I apply gasket sealer?

History:

Removed strainer bowl and put new teflon tape on the plastic fittings then reinstalled. No help.

Primed the strainer bowl with water and boat ran fine. Able to ski 1 set. Temp gauge worked properly.

Next time out, it will not draw water into strainer. Tried revving engine, no luck. Have tightened all hose clamps with nut driver.

Replaced impeller twice due to running while dry. They both had a minor rash but not missing chunks.

Eliminated strainer by running an intake hose from a bucket feeding hose into the trans cooler. https://youtu.be/AE37Gt70DF8?si=qvGIQp6tZWcYalQg

Engine drew water down about an inch and quit pulling water.

That's where I am, what next?

Hey everyone,
Just bought a 2000 Ski Nautique that was ran a lot in salt water. Boat seems to be really solid and in great shape. However the motor is a different story. Biggest problem I'm dealing with right now is the coupling between the engine and the transmission is rusted together. So the input shaft of the transmission is rusted onto the dampener plate that bolts to the flywheel. All the bolts between the transmission and bell housing are out, as well as all the bolts between the bell housing and the engine are out. about half of them broke but thats a problem for a later date. Any ideas on how to sepereate the transmission/bell housing from the block and still saving the engine and transmission?

I've thought about cutting a hole in the bell housing and then either unbolting the dampener plate or putting heat on the coupler and that should take care of it. But trying to see if anyone else on here has run into the same thing or has another solution.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Finally decided to ditch the Faria system and go with the TRD harness and PP Stargazer. Pretty simple installation, but before I wrap it up...

1. Where are people doing the power tie-in for the Stargazer? The old harness had the PP power spliced in-and since the harness gets junked, I need to figure out where to pick up the power now.

2. RPM Sensor for Stargazer. It doesn't look like it's necessary. And even if I wanted to have it connected, I'm not sure where the rpm connection wires would connect. Anyone have any information on this?

3. What's recommended for the mishmash of plugs that used to connect to the gateway box? I've pulled the box, but have no idea what to do with the wires and plugs that used to terminate there.

Starting to think about the leftover maintenance items to do on the boat since it was put away for the winter.
Last fall I had planned to change the oil and filter. This is only my 2nd time changing this boat's oil. When I went to unscrew the oil drain cap I was unable to move it at all. I remember it being difficult to get off the first time as well but not this difficult.

At this point the brass ends to the line have been mangled/deformed from my attempts and I decided to just deal with changing the oil in the spring.
I know if I can get the cap off, I can get a replacement cap. But the piece inside the drain line is more mangled than the cap.
The line itself has plenty of slack so if I were to cut the cap and fitting off the oil drain line, is there a new cap/plug I could install on the line without replacing the whole line?
