Hi all,
we have a 2000 Sport Nautique and had to replace the PME.
I just received the remanufactured PME from Nautique parts but it came without instructions. I looked up the manual for a “Blink PC20” but it’s very general especially when it comes to feed amperage and ground. Does anyone have a pdf or a link to a forums/article on this topic? I’m trying not to wait the entire holiday weekend to get a hold of Nautique parts.

I have a Ski Nautique 200 2018. The last of the original 200s. It has the link system (not the panorama display). I am able to boot the system up with no problem and it starts with no problem. Runs great. The issue I had yesterday is when we shut off the engine (between sets for example) it will not restart. Press the start button but nothing, no signal to the engine or anything. I shut it all the way down and reboot the system and it starts right up no problem. Has anyone have any experience with this happening?

ZZ8S Temperature Fluctuations

Hello all. 2024 G23 with the ZZ8S. We've had a couple of coolant leaks (hose fitting leaks) that the dealer has twice repaired under warranty, including this past winter. The dealer also had to replace the thermostat shortly after we bought the boat - we got a temp spike issue on one of our first outings.

This season, we're seeing some new temperature fluctuations. The normal operating temps for our boat typically range between 163 - 167 F. This season, every time we first get under throttle (to pull up a surfer, accelerate to cruise at speed, etc.), the engine temp climbs to 174 - 176 for 15 - 20 seconds, before slowly lowering back down to the typical range and staying there. Sometimes spikes as high as 178. In addition, when just cruising at idle speed, the temp will sometimes climb up to 178, lower back down to 163, and continue this fluctuation every few minutes.

Any idea what might be causing this? Thermostat going bad again? But we did not see these fluctuations the first two seasons with the boat, so would like to diagnose and address it. I replaced the impeller at the start of the season, the old one was in good shape and not missing any chunks that could be causing a clog. I pulled / reconnected the 6 winterization drain lines to see if may there was a trapped air bubble. Sea strainer is clean, o-ring is in place and doesn't appear to be pulling air or leaking. No water in the bilge. Coolant level is good, not leaking for a change.

Hoping it's the thermostat, but curious if anyone has ideas. Dealer is a couple of hours (each way) away, so hoping this is a DYI fix.

Thanks,

Owner of a GS22 stopped by my dock and was asking about the "Sur f'n Ski" SV211 project and I gave him a quick tour. Re: logo I have got the question "did you put that on there?" a couple of times Yes, it's a new /old model lol.

The GS22 owner had a couple of concerns - #1 the GS22 won't age well due to electronics & cost of replacing, since they don't fix the modules. I agree, I had a couple of failures in my SN200 - throttle and audio. And the feedback I'm getting is constant scans for codes and errors of the late model boats in club service. He was yearning for the days of "analog". #2 is weight and ballast. They have chucked the skimboards are now foiling so don't need a big wake to do that. #3 he likes to ski, and is using a buddy's 196 as the GS22 is not skiable, as I suspected.

I see a lot of 211's for sale out there, so getting a good one and doing a makeover would be pretty easy, plus $100K back in your pocket.

Now in my camp we are switching between the SV211 SnS and a GT40 TSC for skiing. My buddies are like "if you find a nice 196 we'll buy it". The SV211 is just a little too gnarly for them. However, I am going to swap props to the ski prop, last ditch. We had a great set today behind the 211 with light fuel load. I guess a 196 would be a no-brainer for skiing.

Official Nautique Press Release:
<img src="/CorrectCraftManuals/26nbnes.jpg" align="left">ORLANDO, FL (June 28, 2026) - Nautique Boats is proud to celebrate the successful opening stop of the inaugural Nautique Water Ski World Series with the Botaski ProAm presented by GM Marine, held at the world-renowned Botaski water ski facility in Seseņa, Spain. Marking the beginning of a groundbreaking five-stop series, the event brought the world's best three-event water ski athletes together for an unforgettable four days of elite competition, record-breaking performances, and international camaraderie.

The debut stop attracted nearly 100 athletes representing over 20 countries, showcasing the truly global reach of three-event tournament waterskiing. A total of 40 professional athletes competed alongside 22 Under-21 competitors with strong international representation from the United Kingdom, the United States, Spain, Colombia, Canada, Austria, Denmark, and many other nations from around the world.

Nautique has proudly partnered with Botaski for more than a decade, making it a fitting venue to launch this exciting new chapter for the sport. Directed by Ricardo Botas and Cristina Medem, Botaski has become one of the world's premier tournament water ski destinations. Featuring two purpose-built man-made lakes engineered specifically for waterskiing, the site consistently provides world-class conditions for training and competition.

The Nautique Water Ski World Series at the Botaski ProAm delivered history almost immediately, with two pending World Records established behind the Ski Nautique - the first World Records ever set at the Botaski site. Eight-time World Record holder and Team Nautique athlete Erika Lang (USA) set a pending Pro Women's Tricks World Record with 11,710 points, while Jake Abelson (USA) established a pending Pro Men's Tricks World Record with 13,100 points. In the Under-21 division, Cristhiana De Osma (PER) also added her name to the record books by setting a new Peruvian Under-21 Women's Slalom National Record with 3.5 @ 10.75m (39.5 off).

Lang continued her remarkable weekend by capturing the Pro Women's Tricks title with 11,430 points in the finals, followed by fellow Team Nautique athlete Neilly Ross (CAN), who secured second place with 10,520 points.

“I am so happy to have taken the win as well as set a new pending World Record of 11,710 points at the first stop of the Nautique Waterski World Series,” said Team Nautique Athlete, Erika Lang. “I had just found out that my previous World Record of 11,560 points had been approved, so I was feeling super confident on the water going into the event. The redesigned Ski Nautique has been the key factor in helping me achieve these scores - the newly designed hull has allowed me to trick faster, getting more tricks in time than ever before. I’m excited for the rest of the Nautique Water Ski World Series and to see if I can push my score even higher.”

Team Nautique athletes also dominated the Pro Slalom divisions. Charlie Ross (CAN) claimed the Pro Men's Slalom title with a winning score of 0.5 @ 9.75m (42 off), while Regina Jaquess (USA) delivered a record-setting performance in Pro Women's Slalom, establishing a new Botaski course record with 2.5 @ 10.25m (41 off) to earn the victory.

“It’s been an amazing start to the year,” said Team Nautique athlete, Charlie Ross. “Winning the Botaski ProAm this weekend qualified me for the 2027 Nautique Masters and put me in the lead for the very first Nautique World Series Overall Pro Men’s Slalom Champion title. Continuing forward, I aspire to do everything in my power to try and claim a World Series Championship and be best prepared for the Masters next year! A Masters title is something I have dreamed about for as long as I can remember. Qualifying this weekend was the first step in making that dream a reality.”

“As an athlete, the Nautique Water Ski World Series is amazing,” said Team Nautique Athlete Regina Jaquess. “It’s giving us a chance to have tournaments in all three events year-round. Motivation is strong amongst the athletes, as you can see with Erika breaking the World Record in Tricks! I was able to set a course lake record of 2.5 @ 41 and take the win at the first stop of the series at Botaski ProAm. I can’t wait to have more opportunities at the next four stops behind the redesigned Ski Nautique to get down 41! Thank you to the Botas Family and Nautique Boats for a great event and setting the new standard. It was special to take the win and have the support on site with the Nautique crew in Spain!”

With the first stop complete, athletes now turn their attention to the remaining four events as they continue to accumulate points toward qualification for the Nautique Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard TournamentŪ, presented by GM Marine.

"The Botaski ProAm exceeded every expectation we had for the opening stop of the Nautique Water Ski World Series," said Nautique President, Greg Meloon. "To witness athletes from 26 countries come together, see two pending world records established behind the Ski Nautique, and watch competitors across the Professional, Under-21, and Senior divisions perform at such an incredible level was an unforgettable way to launch this series. We're proud to create new opportunities for athletes around the world while continuing to invest in the future of three-event waterskiing."

We are grateful to our valued partners, GM Marine, PCM Marine Engines, Eagle Wetsuits, ZeroOff, Masterline, Syndicate Waterskis, and JL Audio for their belief in our vision and incredible support in helping us bring this exciting new series to fruition.

Long story (sorry), hopefully the history is useful:

I'm the second owner, bought a 2006 196 in 2020 with 412 hours, it now has 486 hours.
When I bought the boat in 2020, the original owner's Nautique dealer had recently replaced the knock sensor and changed the oil.
During the six years I've owned the boat the MEFI set the Knock DTC several times.
Sometimes coinciding with a low fuel warning, which can happen at 1/4 tank, ~10 gallons.
Engine runs great under all conditions, even with low fuel or knock alarms.
Maintenance history:

2020 replaced plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, and still got KS DTCs when skiing and idling in turns if < 1/4 tank.

In 2020-2021 listened for knock at idle and mid throttle in neutral using a stethoscope with cup replaced by metal rod. Nothing heard.

April 2021 at 449 hours, replaced both fuel filters (very dirty), drained the tank and added 100% gas. The fuel drained from purchase turned out to be old ethanol fuel, which at the time I assumed was the root cause of the KS DTC.

Every fall I drain the tank and plug the fuel vent port for winter storage in my heated garage.

Spring 2024 at 476 hours, I replaced both fuel filters just due to age, drained the tank and added 100% gas.

The MEFI did not set a KS DTC after the fuel and fuel filter change in Spring 2021 to winter storage 2025.

Winter 2025/26 repairs and test drives:

Drained the tank as usual, removed the instrument panel, repaired Faria gauges, replaced original Perfect Pass with Stargazer, unplugged and re-plugged the MEFI-4b electrical connectors to confirm version, replaced boat battery, removed and re-sealed fuel tank fittings for supply, return, vent due to fuel odor from prior owner using ethanol. Added 10 gallons 100% gas from no-brand local station.

May 2026 launched boat, 1/2 hour 4 mile idle cruise to my dock. MEFI did not set a KS DTC.

June 19, 2026 half hour idle cruise MEFI set a KS DTC.

June 20 added octane booster (later read PCM manual that states not to do this), ~1 hour test drive at idle and 30mph, MEFI set KS DTC at end of drive.

June 21, 2026, drained fuel tank, added 17 gallons of BP 100% gas (7/8 tank on gauge). Fuel drained sitting in a plastic tub got rained on and turned gold, meaning it had ethanol.

June 24, 2026, 10 minute idle cruise to ski buddy's house, no KS DTC. First ski run MEFI set KS DTC after hole-shot.

June 25, 2026, test runs using full power starts, MEFI set KS DTC on 8th hole shot.

June 27, 2026, visually checked fuel filters, look clean.

Scratching head......
Next #1: check wire continuity from KS to MEFI (not likely an issue)
Next #2: ordered new KS, arriving July 3rd.
TIA,

50% of the time- it starts up no issues. First start of the day is usually good. When it doesn't start with just pressing the start button I take it in and out of neutral and try again- which can take a few tries but always works. I've also figure out that I can hold the start button down while simultaneously jiggling the throttle seems to get it going in one try.

What are the common causes of this? Should I be worried about the boat not starting on me this summer. Should I get it looked at asap- or can I wait.

Cluade(AI) is suggesting it might be the neutral safety switch for the Velvet Drive transmission — PCM part R153011. How likely is that?

Thanks!

Ok so just a bit of history here.
I ran the motor without raw water and burned up the impeller.
Put a new impeller in, made sure (oil cooler/trans oil cooler?) not sure what its called, its directly after the impeller in line, but made sure it was clear of any debris.
Opened the heat exchanger, cleared it of some debris, it was either impeller pieces or pieces of the gaskets because they were very degraded.
Replaced the gaskets.
Still experienced overheating.
Drained out the coolant, checked all the hoses, ran water through every hose and port I could find, just with a garden hose and everything seems to be flowing well. No obvious blockages.
Took out the thermostat. (Will replace with a new one once this issue is under control.)
Filled the closed system as full as I could, basically took the hose off the top of the exhaust manifold and pushed water in until everything was overflowing and put the hose back on.
Today I ran the motor for a while and as of now,
I can feel the cold water in the hoses from the impeller up to the heat exchanger.
The other hoses on top of the engine like by the ECM are hot, which I figure is normal?
Once the temp hit around 150 the Degas bottle got full and I had to turn it off before it overflowed.
The Red Check Engine light is on during the key on mode and also when the engine actually running.

Separately, after getting water on everything during the refill of the closed system, the RPM and MPH Gauges slowly rise when I put it in the key on mode, and kind of go wherever they want when the engine is actually running. It runs great, Im just not experienced in this and having a really hard time getting it back to being reliable.
I am getting water leaking into the bilge from underneath the plate on the inside of the boat at the rate of 2 qts every 20 minutes or so. I have pulled the rudder, housing/tube from the outside/bottom of the boat and the plate on the inside of the boat. After removing the large nut and jam nut (which were only hand tight) from the housing, I noticed that there wasn’t any packing around the rudder shaft. Is this normal? Should there be packing in the large nut that is held in by the jam nut? Is it just a tight fit between the rudder shaft and the housing with grease that makes the water tight seal? It is not leaking through the shaft. How should the two be reassembled?
