Side tow options on new manual tower

Surfing with my son and only the left side of his body has movement due to a tumor. Makes it significantly harder for him to get up but if we tie the rope around the left side of the tower it helps a lot to keep him out of the wake and make it smoother. Wondered if there’s a side tow point option for the manual flight control tower on the newer Gs (ours is a 2025 G23). I’ve found aftermarket ones for most other brands and the generic ones that’ll mount to round tubing but the tower doesn’t have any tubing exposed to connect it to. Not a huge deal to wrap around the tower but would certainly be a lot quicker to just hook to a tow point. Figured I’d ask as the internet hasn’t turned up anything yet. Thx

2003 SAN 210 Team Edition - tubing?

Hi,

New here and can’t seem to find the exact answer I’m looking for in past threads. I’m about to purchase a 2003 SAN 210 Team Edition. I have 4 young kids who still enjoy tubing and a 4 seater tube. I drive fairly conservatively when they are on the tube, but I’m seeing conflicting information about what the appropriate tow point is for this tube and whether there is in fact an appropriate place to tow from. Total weight (tube and kids) is approx 380lbs max. Is the ski pylon sufficient for this? I’m assuming the tower isn’t. Thanks in advance.

Water intrusion with a $4000 bill

they repack the rudder without issue. But that didn’t stop the water from coming in. They traced it to the prop, but they put 10 hours of labor into removing the prop and said they just couldn’t. this was a former Nautique dealer that I’ve used for years and they had their best mechanic on it. they had to cut the prop and replace it.
I’m not doubting the work that they did or that this was necessary, I’m just curious if anyone else has had this experience. the prop had never been removed prior.

edit: I wasn’t clear that it was the prop SHAFT that was stuck, not the prop - they had to cut and replace the shaft as a result, not just the prop.
they broke a $500 shaft puller (that I was not charged for AFAIK)

Nick in front skag

I was under the lift today cleaning the boat and noticed what I would call a small nick in what I would call the front skag, google leads me to believe that it might technically be called a tracking fin . There was a little feather of metal that I bent out for the 2nd picture and then it broke off. The skag is not bent at all and there is no visible damage to the mounting location. No clue when or how it happened. Any reason I should replace it?

2022 G23 Ballast weight changes

I recently purchased a 2022 G23 with supplemental ballast. I turn the battery off when I’m done for the day after ensuring all tanks are empty. The next time I turn the battery on one or both of the supplemental tanks shows 30-40%. While still on the lift I select the affected ballast pump to drain to ensure it is empty. It always is so I don’t want to run the pump when it’s dry. Is this a common issue and is there a way for me to reset the specific tank to zero?

Jump boat w/power straight to starter?

2022 PCM ZR4. Very intermittent starting.

I was looking at the starters on Nautique parts.com and they recommended putting direct power to my starter to see if it fires up. I thought this would start the engine, but all that happened was the starter spun.

Is that right? Is there a way to jump a boat like this (by basically bypassing any failed components other than the starter)....and basically saving your day on the lake

Sealed replacement rudder packing box

I have a continuous leak in my 2005 SV 211 rudder and a rattle through the steering wheel at top speed so thought the rudder stuffing box just needed tightening. It appears that the plate on the bilge side is cracked on both sides between the 4 bolts. I have read on this forum that this is common and caused by the cast bronze plate being bolted down on an uneven surface. Would insufficient grease cause the rattle? I can feel some play in the rudder when I pull on it.
When I pull the boat for the season, the plan is to replace the cracked plate and repack the rudder. Does anyone know if there is an upgraded, no grease, stuffing box replacement for theses boats. I have a sealed shaft seal and it would be nice to have a sealed rudder as well since the boat is on a buoy. Thanks

Looking for boat mechanic Portland OR

My son has a 1989 Ski Nautique in Portland, OR and he can’t get it started. He had driveability issues with it and a mechanic replaced the Holley carb with a different brand and the boat didn’t run any better. Now after the winter he has been unable to even start it. I live in CA so I can’t help him work on it and he doesn’t know much about working on engines. Does anyone know of a mechanic in the Portland area that knows how to work on carbureted boats? Thanks!

Help with wire routing around TAC/TCP

2006 SANTE 220 w/Excalibur 330

Trying to figure out if this is causing my idle mode problem. Does anyone have photos on there 330 of where this plug with blue arrows goes? Is it meant to not be plugged to anything? Also, as a side note while trouble shooting I noticed the red arrow plug had a wire cut off at the plug. If anyone has a photo of that plug too it would be SOOOO much help. I can't imagine there would be a bare wire hanging there intentionally.

Excalibur 330 ECM Diagnostic Port

Hey gang, I need some help identifying the ECM diagnostic port on my 2006 Nautique 226 with Excalibur 330 engine.

I ordered a Rinda Techmate Pro so that I would be able to read any codes the engine ECM might set. Here’s pics of the unit and plug:

After staring at the wiring harness for a while, the only plug that looks like it could be a diagnostic port is the narrow 6-pin one next to the red circuit breaker button that has “405051-A” on the cap.

When I remove the cap I see that it has what appear to be 3 yellow fuses with no values showing. Possibly these are jumpers and not fuses? If this is the diagnostic port, then I have the wrong Rinda unit, based on plug shape.

Here’s more pics of the engine and wiring harness. It’s a V drive, so when I use “front” and “rear”, I’m using hull orientation and not engine orientation.

High Idle Problem

1997 Sport Nautique with GT40 Engine

I’m having some trouble with a high idle condition. About a month ago i put new plugs in due to a miss, i have learned that particular condition and know the signs. New plugs and it was running smooth again. While changing the plugs I checked the base timing, it was off a little so got that spot on.

I set the idle to 650 and was having a some surging, did some research and found that it was likely the idle air control valve. I replaced it, and for good measure replaced the throttle position sensor, since they were both likely original to the boat so 30 years old.

The boat now idles smoothly at 650, most of the time. A week ago we spent 7 hours pulling the tube with kids from our church youth group. Off and on the boat would not return to 650 at idle, but hover around 1000. The pattern went on all day.

Yesterday we went to the lake and the boat idled smooth at 650 when we put the boat in, then a few minutes later as we idled out of the marina it was at 1000. We spent some time pulling the kids on the wake board and tube, 650 idle each time. Then we ran about 25 or 30 mph for 15 or so minutes back to the marina, and when I pulled back to idle, it was 1000 again. Shut the boat off while backing in the trailer then it idled nicely at 650 again when I loaded it.

Any ideas of where to start looking to correct the random high idle?
