I have decided to do something similar to what WakeJunky did to his boat. I am having a new cooler cushion made by a local upholstery shop, and I'll be building the box myself. I'm not sure what I'll put in the box (sub, batteries, or maybe just storage), but the additional seating will be nice. It should be complete within a few weeks!

I want to do the same thing as well. How much is the cushion costing you? Does that upholstery shop have the same material??

Not sure on the price yet. I am taking over my cooler seat next Tuesday so that they can duplicate it. They say they can get pretty much any material. I know the owner, so I am hoping to get a good deal. They repaired a broken seam on a seat in my old boat for free, so I think I'll get a decent deal. I'll let you know what they charge once it is done.

Finally got the quote from the upholstery shop today. They're making the seat cushion for $100. I'll make the base myself out of marine plywood. My local dealer wanted $388 for the cushion and $296 for the base!

Does anyone know where I can get some of the carpet that CC uses? Is that a dealer item? I want it to match perfectly.

I still haven't decided what to put in the box. If I put a sub in the seat, can the panel where the factory sub mounts be removed to allow longer items like skis to be stored under the observer's seat? That factory sub isn't worth much anyway.

The carpet is made by syntec. You should be able to call them and find a distributer for an exact carpet color/ounce match

I just did same with my '01. I'm pretty stoked to have some extra cupholders and a step. Cushion is in the works that will taper on both sides into the rear cushion.

NautiqueJeff, I ordered both the carpet and vinyl through my local dealer. Took a while on the carpet and unfortunately you can tell it's brand new versus my 3 year old boat carpet. Regardless, I'm digging it and the addition of the sub enhances boat sound nice.
