Nick, I haven't forgotten about you buddy. Vinyl is at the upholstery shop now, carpet is next on my list. I'll be calling you shortly.

Ok I installed the snaps today. Took about three hours and was not to bad. Only had to re-do a few areas.

If you are going to do it here is what I would recommend.

1 Get the professional snap tool. I tried it with the tool from West Marine and the West Marine was a waste of time and money.

2 Order the snaps from Corinthian they were much better than other snaps I found.

3 I found the best way to set up was to lay the piece in place and alien the best you can. Remember that these pieces will be different than the last ones. The difference is small but enough to mess you up. I do not think it would be possible to have the snaps attached at the factory. There are too many variables. Being of less than an 1/8th of an inch will cause a pucker. Make sure that there is enough carpet in all areas so you will not have to put a snap in the binding. It would be easy to do.

4 Once it was in place and about where I thought it should be I would feel for the first snap with my the tips of my thumbs. Once found I would push an all through the carpet and make sure it was the center of the snap. Then I would pull the carpet back and use a Sharpie to mark the location. Then I would remove the all and attach the snap. I fould it was good to go to the other end of the peice and attach a sanp in that location. Then work around so all the carpet was smooth.

    Other tips

Warm the carpet before you install. Warm carpet is easier to work with.

Order 15 more snaps than you need. I would also ask Corinthian to send you a small scrap of the carpet to try a snap before you start.

If you mess up on placement of a snap and you have a pucker you do not want, you can drill the inside of the snap off and take it out. One caution do not let the snap get hot. If it does you could have a snap melted in your carpet. If any one has any other question let me know.

I am still on the list to do carpet in my 211, just need to get a few xmas bills paid off... I am thinking of doing dark blue with black binding to match my dark blue accents and black piping. Comments?

Dark blue carpet is going to get a little warmer than the grey.

Get a sample of the Graphite color. Put a dark blue binding and it would look great.

RLS - This is a great write up on installing the snaps! Good suggestion at using a sample piece of carpet to practice installing the snaps too.

RLS, now that you have completed installing the snaps yourself. Would you tackle the job again yourself? I have new carpet from Corinthian also, the other 'guinea pig' for the SV211. I have the carpet but have not been able to get to try the snap install yet. My boat is still at the dealer having some service work completed. I see this being a challenge to line each snap up with out wrinkles in the curves especially. Your looks great, I relly like the look and texture of their carpet. It makes for a great update compared to the factory.

I would do it again. Each piece gets a little easier. I started in the bow and when I was done I went back and re-did the bow. Go slow and take your time. Order several extra snaps. Borrow the snap tool from Corinthian. I was by my self but for the larger pieces a second person would help. Just remember the pieces are going to be slightly different. Do not use the old pieces as patterns. My bow piece was slightly long. Remember to check the placement of all the snaps before you place the first on. You want to make sure none of the snaps will be on the binding. I found the all and pen work very well. You can feel the snaps through the carpet so it is pretty easy to find the center of the snap.

If you miss place a snap grill it out and start again. Just make sure the snap does not spin when you drill. If it does it can melt the carpet then you have a mess.
