Here are a couple quick, not-so-good shots of some of the add-ons we did this summer.
They are both on the trailer. Two things were done. In the front on the hitch part, the silver thing that goes onto the ball, that part, two PIAA lights were added there that shine back on the hull. They are really awesome except really don't do that much w/ a black hull... We are going to tilt them down so they will however light the trailer up and the area below the boat to give it a glow. The other is another small light that was mounded towards the front of the fender and faced up towards the AIR logo to light it up at night. This light also works well except it has a suprisingly narrow beam and doens't light it up like we thought it would. Here are the pics. anyhow.

Could not have said it better.
Wonder how long the light will last after repeated dunks in the drink.

O... the ones on the fender are actually 100% water proof. They guy who installed them has worked on many boats so knew exactly what they were going to be used for so we made sure that these lights would be 100% waterproof, and they are! They also light up the lake well when your pulling/launching at night. The front lights aren't waterproof like the ones on fender but still water risistant. They won't be dunked.
So we don't have to worry about that.... :D

Both.
Not sure if you remember, must have been 2-3 years ago. CC had a raffle for all the dealers. Winner got a free order. Well, my dealer happened to be very lucky! Got such a hot boat, we tried to buy it. He loved it so much he wouldn't sell it. Whats ironic is he won't get a boat nearly as hot as that on speck, yet we both agree we have the two hottest boats on the lake.
Why is he in my avatar? B/C I was messin' around with Adobe ImageReady and Photoshop, and thought it would look cool. Also maybe give a little credit to him and that boat for if it wasn't for that boat, I wouldn't be in the boat I have right now.

I love that color combo. Do you happen to have any large pictures of the orange boat?

Sure, top one is the one in the avatar...
Just wanted to add another reason for it being in my avatar--I don't think anything is cooler than two hot Air 216s back to back.

You have taken more pics of your boat than my parents took of me between the ages of 1 and 10.
But I can see why. It is a great looking boat.

Nice boat! I finally was able to look at all of your pics. I see how you have your foil in the boat. How much was your cover? Since I don't have a cover, I place my foil so the T-bar is airborn and the seat is down on the carpet (upside down).
Also, can you let me know the manufacturer and model of the lights you used on the fenders. That is a sweet idea and very original (I'd like to copy the idea!!!).

Thanks... yeah I never really realized how many pics I've posted, sad part is its only a fraction of what I have on my comp!
Our cover was custom-made locally here in CT. We payed about $700 for it but it is perfect and worth it. Sunbrella is the best material out there. We used to keep our chair like you did but we found that not only does it not fit under the bimini, but while trailering and driving it topples over and the foil is then leaning outside the boat. This way, we can wrap a bunjee around the ski, from the rear tower leg to the pylon. Now the ski goes over huge bumps and turns and stays straight, seems to work well.
The lights on the fenders--you saw the pics. They don't light up the whole logo like we hoped they would, but they add a little light to the boat so they're nice. They're PIAA's, but I forgot which model exactly. I think they are fog lights. They were the '04s so the new ones may be a little different. I'll try to look around for them I'm always interested in seeing whats new at PIAA ;-)

HERE (http://piaa.com/LEDs/LEDs.html) is the link for the lights on the fenders. It's either the Deno-1 or the Deno-3, don't know the exact number of LEDs off the top of my head...
And, I think the 002 Turbo-L LED Lamp is what we have on the hitch of the trailer facing back. They don't light up a black hull too well, so we use them to light up the trailer and the area around it, so it looks pretty cool.
They have been wired to go on w/ the park lights.

the lights look nice in real life too. real sleek looking on the trailer. looks like they came on there from the factory

Ahhh, a 216 threat. Picked ours up in CT three weeks ago. Love it... '03 216 Team. Tower is a little naked but working on that as we speak. Sold our '94 Ski to a friend. Wow CC has come a long way!!!

That's it! Boy you guys are good. It did clean up pretty nice. Those guys are great to work with at Candlewood. When I got it the head unit was bad but they shipped me another one no questions asked. You're right there's not too many 216's out there, but they are great boats. I was chasing one in Tenn for a while but they wanted too much for it, then I stumbled over this one and the number was right. I'm located in south central PA. just east of Lancaster. We spend alot of time at Blue Marsh up in Reading and down on the Susquehanna on the weekends.
Got a bimini coming from Tower Bimini's because that's where everyone said you need to go. Looking into speaker options too.
Great site, glad to know there are at least a couple other 216 ers around!!

Do you guys know this boat or have you seen it on Candlewood? Mitch said that's where it's spent all it's life. Love the lake, the day I came to pick it up it was blowing horizontal rain....and there I am....looking like some kind of schmuck out there in the boat...demoing it....I can hear the homeowners now... "honey get a load of this wacko...quick get the binoculars...who in their right mind..."
Love that lake though...would love to come back and check it out again sometime when the weather is nicer.
Question: Under the engine, on the floor are two 5/8" red hoses coming up from the transom. They are capped off and look like they went towards the bow at one time. Any ideas what they went too? The heater is hooked up and works fine. Can you put a belly ballast in these boats? Appreciate your feedback when you get a chance on this one.
AbunDiga909
06-20-2006, 07:04 PM
I don't exactly know which hoses you are talking about, but that may be my own fault. Unfortunately, you can't get a belly ballast tank in the 216, only in the V-Drives... I don't know the history of that boat, except for the fact that I've just seen it there for a looooong time. It's a great boat, I'm surprised it didn't go earlier.
You should def. come visit Candlewood again. It is a great lake, and I think I know exactly which day you're talking about, b/c there aren't that many like that here. If you're up for a small trip, come July 1st, that is when one of the towns on the lake does a huge fireworks show for the 4th. You launch your boat and can go right under them and view the firworks from the water right below, its amazing...
NOTE: DON'T launch at Lattin's Cove! That is the public one and everyone will tell you to go there, but don't listen to them. Use it as a last resort only, otherwise you'll either have a dinged prop or have to spend time waiting for mud and milfoil to float away after being sucked up by the engine... yeah, I hate that ramp... end rant...
Hope you can make it soon, I'll know your boat when I see it... 8-)

I have the same two red hoses in my 03 Air 206. I've wondered what they were for too.......anybody know?
ihaveansv211
06-21-2006, 01:39 AM
those hoses might be to make it easier to winterize the ballast tanks
instead of popping the lines that go to the tank off. u just install a T fitting and another hose on each line. cap it off. and when u winterize u can pour ur anti freeze or whatever in the T fitting hose

Austin -
Yeah, Candlewood was ready to move it for sure, the price was the lowest 216 out there and this was a team edition. Was out last night, ran fine except for the last 10 minutes or so it started beeping (about two quick beeps) about every 30 seconds, no gauges were low/high and it didn't go in limp mode so I guess it's back to the owners manual again.....
Thanks for the info on the ramp, I may harrass the marina into letting me launch there once when I come back up since I just handed them a fat check. I know its a private club but I'll beg a little. The 4th sounds cool but we head upstate NY every year for that. Here's something you guys probably didn't know. We head up in the Adirondacks to a place on Lake Pleasant. There are more Nautiques on Lake Pleasant than any other lake in the world (per sq. mile) The lake is 3 miles by 1 mile and last year I counted 48 nautiques. They all concregate on the water for the fireworks over the lake that they have there too. It's really something to see all these boats together. That's where Mid Atlantic Correct Craft is based and the Meloons have a house up there too. I think they did a brochure photo shoot on this lake one year. So if you ever want to see Nautiques up the wazoo this is where you need to go. I think you have to file permits to launch a Mastercraft on that lake......just kidding, if you dare to bring one at all.
I'll keep you posted on a trip. Maybe later this summer but I do want to return for a day or so.

Yeah, do that! I bet they'll let it go b/c you did just buy it, but just make sure you beg before you get there and don't abuse the privilege (sp?)... hahahaha... I'm sure it'll be fine....
That trip sounds really cool, but unfortunately I will be away as of July 1st. I won't even be able to view the show on my lake. But once I get back, I'm game for a Nautique trip to wherever. You'll notice that b/c of CEAST, I'd call Candlewood pretty much a Nautique-Lake. Not as much as Lake Pleasant (name hence the 48 nautiques), but there are a crapload of Nautiques compared to the amount of BUs and MCs--I like it...
I dunno what your alarm could have been for. The only time I have beeps like that is when I have the ignition w/ both lights on for a long time, w/o the engine on, I think its just a warning beep to remind you that you have both ign. lights on. It also beeps when I have my tower lights on, b/c they draw so much power, but you dont have them, so I don't know.. :???:

I saw some show on the Travel Channel last year about $$$ vacation homes. One was on this lake and they had an all hunter green TSC SN 196 w/o any graphics. It kinda looked like a modern day Paragon w/o the wood deck and floor. I want to say the house was even on an island too, but could be wrong. Do you have any idea what I'm talking about?
etwman
06-21-2006, 05:44 PM
There is an island there but it's girls camp that's only accessable by boat, but I do know that boat and know who owns it so you're right about that! The real estate on that lake is pretty nice to say the least. There's a christian family resort at one end which makes it really nice to boat too which draws alot of people to that lake. The Meloons always have a new one on display in their dock slip every year and have pretty strong ties to the resort. I'm pretty sure last year they had a new 210 SANTE if I remember correctly. Wanna get stared at on that lake, launch a competitors inboard...you'll feel like a minority. If your ever looking for a neat place to boat, and don't mind the drive, it's almost worth seeing all the nautiques, especially on the 4th of July. I bet there's 60 correct crafts all out there during the fireworks.
