  • 2005 SAN gets single 'click' at turn of ignition key

    battery is fully charged
    replaced starter
    replaced ignition switch.
    no corrosion on battery cable

What else could it possibly be?
It starts once in a while, but all other times i just get a click. Power comes on to everything.

Starter Solenoid. Trace the large wire back from the starter to the solenoid. They are relatively cheap

Check for a loose ground that leads to the battery.

No not in these boats It is the little black piece that has the red cable from the battery and to the starter. Plus an energizing wire from the ignition. To check it you can take a jumper cable and jump around it. When it clicks though it usually means a low battery. Also check that the ground to the solenoid is good. Sometimes its a wire but usually it is the case of the solenoid itself grounding to the mount.

I had the same problem with my 2006 SV-211 yesterday. I kept battery tenders on it all winter, yesterday I took it out to the lake and......"click" every time I hit start (ouch). A Marine mechanic at the marina checked the batteries (they tested good) and jumped the solenoid - it cranked right up... He told me I should replace the starter too if going through all the trouble... Any thoughts??? The CC dealer quoted me $285 for the starter...
