Excalibur oil filter

Does anyone have a cross reference number for the PCM oil filter in the Excalibur? The PCM # is R077001. I'm looking for an off the shelf filter and the PCM # isn't cross referenced in the other brand's books. Thanks in advance. :D

Take it to the auto store, and match up the threads and o-ring sizes. Then find the longest one in the same size. Might get you an extra half quart even.

If it is the remote filter above the exhaust manifaold, then it is a "Ford" filter type.

The motorcraft part number is FL-1A, and you can get it at wallyworld.

Fram PH-8 if you want to use that brand. This will work on all excalibur engines.

i had a link for an oil filter test on ccfan or here. do a search or i'll see if i can find it. i would go pcm or motorcraft. IMHO fram filters are junk.

So does PCM use "Ford" filters on their Chevy block engines (i.e. Excalibur)?

All PCM engins use the motorcraft FL-1A..ford block or chevy.
I would use the FL1A from motorcraft. That is the stock filter on PCM from dealer.

It is not that they use a ford filter on a chevy block, but more that they use one type of remote oil filter mounting bracket, and that unit uses a ford filter.

The parts that attach to the blocks are differen patterns, but those should not ever be removed unless there is a problem with it.

I agree with TRYAN and MARK S..... I had an off road race car with extremely high oil pressure and would literally grenade fram oil filters. Talk about a mess!!! You could actually see the Fram bulge as you throttled the gas. The engine builder reccomended the Motorcraft FL1A due to its construction. Never had a problem again. Stick with the Motorcraft product.
