IS THERE SOME SORT OF THROTTLE ADJUSTMENT? IF YOU TAKE YOUR HAND OFF IT SLOWLY POPS BACK TO IDLE. COULD IT BE THE CARB SPRING NEEDS TO BE STRECHED?

all nautiques are like that. it's a safety feature. if for some reason you get thrown out of boat it doesn't keep cruisin down the lake.

My 91 is like that too, but once you get above 30 or 32 mph then the throttle will hold its self in position.

Mine stays where I set it unless I hit a good size wave. That'll knock it back a bit if I don't have my hand on the throttle.

There is a spring that will bring it back into position that can be removed. My 93 Sport Nautique does not have it but my friends 95 Sport does. It is very irritating. Remove the spring, if you can find it, and you will love it. I don't know if it is on the carb or in the throttle mechanism. Sorry, wish I knew more.
