What are your guy's water sports goals for this year in terms of boarding/skiing/footing/etc.?
Saloming:
We really only do freeskiing slaloming, but I hope I improve my form enough to be skiing full speed through the course come fall.
Barefooting:
Grasshopper, deep backs, front to backs off 5' section, and overrall rough water endurance
Boarding: (i don't know the trick terminology)
Knee: front flip (not much time devoted here)
Wake: backroll, front flip, W2W 360
More importantly though, all my buddies are getting serious about learning to foot after watching me last year, so I'd rather get them going long line so we can all get dragged across the lake at 40+ mph at the same time. I've never seen or even heard of more than 3 at a time on our lake before.
I thought this might help all of achieve new tricks this year with some guys being experienced in different areas.

Slalom - deep 35 off and/or into 38 off
Jump - 50-60 feet (only jumped 8 times so far)
Trick- around 700 (Don't trick that often)

My best jump last year was like 50-55 ft. I've been off the ramp right around a dozen time, it's a blast! You should make that 60 no problem with another 8 jumps.
I also forgot about that darn trick ski. I can get around on a back flip with the skylon on our '88, but not even close in "tournament" trim behind a Response.

I have bought some new slalom gear and am looking to get through 32 off and to run 35 would be AWSOME!
I don't trick or fly! so I'll stay glued to the H2O

This year I'm really hoping to get all six at 15' off at least. I better, because thats the only reason we got a 216 oppose to a 210!
As for hydrofoiling, I kind of dropped that to slalom. My goal for the last two years was to get a gainer down. That never happened. I still hope to do it this year, but I still wouldn't consider it a real "goal."
I've seen a lot of barefooting. Looks interesting!

Main goal is to learn all the terminology used in the above posts....
Seriously though, I have some personal boarding, barefooting, and slalom goals, but it mainly deals with getting in better shape physically. I am going to really concentrate on getting more experience as a driver. I will be pulling foks at different skill levels and with different interests. The goal is to be safe and allow them to enjoy the experience. Will work to make sure that the driver is not a source of frustration...
Two years I pulled a hamstring so badly my foot went numb for 2 days As a result my Goals are a little more conserative. I would like to get back up on my Kidder Redline and make it back to the course However at 52 Most people my age are just cruising.
I'm just going to hope that none of the items listed on the warning label of my new slalom ski actaully happen to me. Severe injury and/or death, seriously. God bless the legal department.

Wakeboarding- Get bigger air on my HS w2w jumps, work on TS w2w jumps, get better at riding switch, work on my w2w 180s, maybe learn to do a 3 or an invert.

I am assuming that you are referring to "terminology"?....I am still getting aquainted with the various teminology of experienced skiers, barefooters, and boarders. Things like "deep 35 off and/or into 38 off"...don't got a clue what that means.
As far as "pulling" experience. I have great opportunities to pull with some very experienced folks in the boat with me. I spent a whole week in a boat with a retired pro wakeboarder last year. He taught students and me at the same time. Because of that, I feel fairly confident that I won't cause frustration for a wakeboarder. But I have only had limited time pulling experienced Barefooters and Slalom skiers. So, I am looking forward to some more opportunties to pull folks with no experience or mid-level experience with an experienced driver in the boat with me....does that make sense?

The standard slalom rope is 75 feet. Anytime you hear 35 off or 38 off or any other "off" you subtract that number from 75 and that is the total length of the rope. The bouys are about 38 feet away from the center of the course if you were to be perfectly perpendicular with the pylon. When someone says deep into a certain line length, they mean they want to be running 4 or 5 bouys at that line length. If someone says I want to be into a certain line length they mean that they hope to be getting one or two or maybe 3 bouys at that line length.
Hope that helps!

So, how did everyone make out this year? What did you and didn't you accomplish? Also, post pics if you have them of what you did with your SN this year.

Turning 21 put a huge spin on my summer. I gained some endurace barefooting, no backwards or no new tricks. I think I slalomed a whole 2 times. Still can't do much on a wakeboard, didn't kneeboard once. Trick skiied exactly once. Keep in mind I was probably drinking 80% of the time I was out on the water, and if I could start the summer over again, I wouldn't change a thing. One the bright side, no tickets out on the water or injuries.
Now that I'm back to 3-event tournament skiing, I'll be getting into 22' off next week and am jumping mid 60'. Almost landed my first helicopter attempt also. Still got a few weeks left in the season too.

Well this season (hopefully its not over yet), I learned my TS 180s and got a lot better at riding switch. I'm really, really close on my TS wake to wakes and I'm getting much better air on my HS w2w. I'm pretty happy with my progress and I learned a lot on the wakesurf board and I got a little bit better on the wakeskate.

Long line barefooting behind the boat was great. Also, got my oldest (11) slalom skiing. Still working on starts, but getting real close and is very consistent on the boom.
No Injuries this year was a big plus. (except for the boat) Also, the goal of seeing how much we can get out on the water was also interesting. Only missed 5 weekends this summer since mid April. 2 of those due to weather. 1 due to some travel. 1 due to the boat being in the shop, and this past weekend due to moving out of our house. Not bad...
It was a great summer. Hopefully it's not over....hope to keep going past Halloween.

Wow... This season has had surprises left and right for me. Ofcourse it all started when we decided we were finally getting a Nautique. Then after a disagreement with our local shop we got a slalom demo from online. Then as it turns out the lake didn't have a course set up this year and the only time I had a course was when I was in Maine for two weeks. Only about 12+ runs through it didn't get me close to all six, maybe every other one if I was lucky. I aced the mini-course, boat going btw boat and skier bouy, but the regular course, I'm still in need of much lessons.
Then just two weeks ago in my first run of the season in my full suit, I bring 4 friends onto the boat for the first time when its "chili" out and wanna show them what the heck a skyski is. They all think I'm an idiot when I talk about it. So I show them, its the end of the season, I have my special "invert footstays" on, and a boat comes by, so now I have the most attention on me I've had all summer with the hopes of me at its heighest. I get tired from the extra pull due to the cold, pull out of the wake close to an oncoming boat, and throw it all back, and land my first invert! HOLY CRAP! Actually, it was my second try that day, but I still had no clue it was going to happen. I was just messing around the whole time.
**** does that feel good!
So maybe I should set my goals to just ski recreationally next season and I'll find myself at the INT championships...

Well as you can see this time last year I said that I wouldn't really concentrate on hydrofoiling, didn't really care about nor expect to land a flip. Instead I wanted to concentrate on slaloming and get the course down. As of now, I'm solid on landing a dismount gainer (flip after letting go) and still suck at the course...
So my goals are a little different for this year. I still want to get the course down, but more importantly, I want to get a solid gainer down (flip not letting go) and maybe even a roll.
And for you...

TS Off Axis 5's, TS front roll, Tantrum, indy tantrum, Off Axis backside 180, Indy glide, TS raley, and maybe a Batwing. Thats about it, maybe try a few tantrum combonations like tantrum to blind and tantrum to revert.

Raley, Batwing, Backroll, 360 and maybe learn to do something switch, but probably not. I'd like to atleast see a slalom course this summer, and get some more guys barefooting so we can do triple deepwater and quad step-outs.

This is only my 3rd season on a wakeboard. I really want to take a step back and actually learn the fundamentals and advance step by step. I need to get much more consistant on all my wake jumps (HS, TS, FS, BS) and I need to get more comfy riding switch. Then I want to progress to a few spins and more grabs. Hopefully, I can accomplish it this season, I plan on being out on the water alot...
In the past I just went out and tried stuff without learning the basics first and it has limited me on what I can do.
I've only slalom skied twice and this is someting I want to learn for sure this year. 8-)

Bump for 2006 season...
1 - Average 3 outings a week through the summer.
2 - Complete slalom course @ 30 mph.
3 - Learn how to barefoot off a boom.

Nice thread.. good to see it again..
1.) Get that **** gainer down on the SkySki (NOT dismount!)
2.) Get at least 3 consecutive outside bouys on the course @ 30 mph, 15 off
3.) Learn to get better at wakeboarding so I'm not a disgrace to all Nautique owners
4.) Surf w/o holding on to the rope. ;-)
5.) Learn to barefoot off a boom, also...
6.) Try not to kill half a tank of gas in 30 minutes just from bombing it up and down the 9 mile lake in 5 minutes!
7.) Meet ALL the new Nautique owners on the lake!!! 8-) oh yeah...
Think thats it for now, but i'm sure i'll think of more once I submit this...

I would like to do this with out killing myself:
Jump: go 150 to 160 on a 5 foot ramp at 35
Slalom: get into and maybe run 32
Trick: I never do it, so probably still won't this summer
Barefoot: long line deep water start
kneeboard: perfect the front flip and maybe a lay out
wakeboard: just get better, never really do that either
Looks like it is going to be a busy summer on the water, be get out and start skiing. Hope everyone enjoys it as much as I will.
It's been a really slow start so far, but...
Slalom: Run 28 off at 36MPH
Jump: Just get over it and land once more
Trick: perfect my 2 ski basics and graduate to slalom
Barefoot: long line deep water start

Heck yes. I can help you with the 5 man also... that's about the limit of my BF knowledge though. Personally I'd like to:
1. Get into 34MPH in the course at any line length
2. Bag 22 off at 32MPH regularly (ahem... or, do it at all)
3. Ride backwards on a single trick ski
4. Get out on the trick ski every time I go skiing, regardless of how non-exciting this beginner phase is.
5. Ski with the Hollywood PL gang
6. Drink with the Hollywood PL gang

Barefooting:
Get my longline tumbleup back
Slalom:
Purchasing a ski finally. Likely a Connelly concept
Get out into the course more often. That is a MUST.
