Atlanta GA area

Hey everyone,

We are possibly looking to re-locate from the Seattle area to just outside Atlanta (Macon). How is the skiing around there from all of you who know?

Todd, depends on where you are going. If its macon then Lake Sinclair or Lake Oconee is going to be your best bet. Lake Jackson is about 40 miles south of Atl but NW of the prior 2 lakes. North of Atlanta you'll hit Lake Lanier (NE) and Lake Alatoona up I-75 towards Chattanooga. I myself do the Lake Jackson thing. I'm about 20 min from the lake and hope to move closer in next couple of months. Let me know if I can help you out.

How about Roswell? I just moved here and I'm bringing my 206 over from Alabama. I was thinking Alatoona. Anybody know anything about that lake?

Alatoona is very shallow. I don't really care for it that much. I go during the week on the north side of Lanier and it's great. Even the south end is fine during the week for that matter. Weekends are impossible on the south end though.

I ski Hawassee in NC however own a rental cabin 5 minutes from the Dry Branch boat launch on Lake Blue Ridge in North GA. Both are beautiful deep mountain lakes.
