Need to do some spring maintenance. I have a 95 Ski w/GT-40, what type of spark plugs should I use. None of the auto parts stores have spark plugs that match the numbers that are in the engine manual. Are they just standard spark plugs for a Ford 351? Do I need to go to a boat shop to get special plugs?
Also, I want to change my fuel filter, what's the best way to do it.
Thanks for your help.

Go to your PCM dealer and get the GT-40 tune-up kit. That is the easiest way to go.

Check out "Discount Inboard Marine" they have all kinds of parts and tune up items. They are also very helpfull with tech questions.

i second skidim, but i believe ngk is doing a few marine applications now. autolite is my second choice. champions are my last choice. leave the platinum and iridium plugs on
after the new filter is installed, you might purge the air out of the system by turning the key to on a few times and NOT starting the motor. air is hard on injectors and will screw up the spray pattern.

You can also order the parts from some Nautique dealers online. White Lake Marine has parts available on their website. This is the way I used to get parts for my '94 Ski Nautique.

If you haven't done it recently, I'd also suggest replacing your Impeller (http://www.whitelake.com/catalog/sherwood_impeller_kit_1653426.htm).

Jeff, how often do you recommend an impeller be replaced?
Thanks.

Personally, I like to change mine every year. Some people see that as overkill, and I can understand that. If you boat in water that is muddy, I would replace it at least every year. If you boat in nice clear lakes, you might be able to get away with less frequent changes.
You might also take a look at this thread (http://www.planetnautique.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=272), where impeller replacement was discussed in more detail.

Thanks for your help with the plugs. What kind of fuel filter do I need, as far as I can tell it's an in-line filter just behind the engine. Also, does the GT-40 have electronic ignition? May be a stupid question, just trying to find out.
By the way, I just changed out the impeller last month. It was the first time its been done, 160 hrs of use in muddy water. It was a little torn up, but still worked.
