One of my friends purchased a new BU Response LXI with a Titan Tower (i think it was a titan) last year. He called the tower manufacturer and they recommended against pulling certain things off the tower. My question is what can you pull off the FCT and what should you avoid. Are there weight limits, can you pull two skiers, three tubers, etc ????

I've seen dual tubers off of a FCT before. You can probably pull anything, just don't drive like a jackass when there is a lot of stress on the tower.

I think a company like CC especially would make their towers strong enough to pull anything reasonable...

Yes indeed CC make their towers very very strong. However the tower is made out of Aluminum, and it does flex under certain loads. Pulling three wakeboarders is about the maximum load that I would personally put on my boat. If you are gonna tow tubes or try to be like seaworld and pull 9 barefooters at once, you should consider attaching the ropes to the pylon.

That last part brings up a good point... Which do you think is stronger, the FCT or the pylon?
Anyway, when you picture it, when all the weight from those big wakeboarders starts to make the tower flex, wouldn't you expect the stress to be applied directly to the gellcoat where the back two legs are? And I think CC thought of it the same way because when they frst invented the thing, it was about three times as much to have one put into a boat aftermarket oppose to factory because if it was aftermarket, they would have to rip out the gellcoat to put in super strong plates for that prupose... So i would expect that a FCT could take more weight than that...

Pylon is atleast 5x stronger than the tower, ATLEAST. No gelcoat has to be ripped out to install a tower, just drill holes in the deck. The plates can go over gelcoat.

Hollywood, wow...something you wouldn't expect when you look at size...

the failure point you have to worry about are not the towers and pylons, their weak points should be their mounting points. compare how the two are mounted.
the tower even with steel backing plates is basically bolted into fiberglass, and has the added fulcrum effect of the towpoint being up high. the pylon is connected with steel ubolts to the internal structure of your boat.

Last summer, I whipped a wakeboarder around my boat and he was pulling off the tower............skiers call this a boat "o" .........my FCT seemed to handle it well. However, you have to be careful from getting the rope caught on the boardracks.
