I've done a lotta private messaging lately about where people are in this area. I've noticed that this area of the U.S. isn't as "Nautique pupulated" compared to others, so when i found someone in this area, i thought it was worth private messaging them, but thats getting kinda annoying and I thought I could post this and get rid of that problem. So I ask, who's in the North East???

We've PM'd each other, but just so anyone else around here knows, I'm in Southern Maine. It is exciting when you meet another Nautique owner around here, it is pretty rare.

finally another northeasterner. i am in westchester, so not far from nyc. i ski mostly in the adirondacks (upstate new york) but do some fall skiing down here. mainly candlewood, but always looking for people to go with, and new places to ski.

Are you serious pschne1! We are getting a new nautique this season and if its gonna be a new one...oppose to last yrs leftover...it will be from Candlewood East! Thats where you were talking about right???

I live in NYC yr round, but my grandparent have a house up in somers westchester...we go there so much we almost call it our country house..lol...thats where we keep our boat. My family used to ski on candlewood all teh time, but since its so rough there, we now primarily ski at Lake Lilinonah...our friends have house on that lake also...

If you realy are that close... we gotta meet up some time!

There are a bunch of nautiques on Lake Cochituate --outside of Boston ..we all belong to the three seasons ski club

I have a 2003 ski 206 and my ski buddies have a 1998 ski nautique and a 1997 ski nautique

These guys are hardcore tourney skiers ...I'm working my way up to become one ....

I live in MA but do most of my skiing in ME. On CorrectCraftFan.com (http://www.CorrectCraftFan.com) we're discussing the idea of having a mini-NE Reunion. Nothing big, just a date and place where NE Correct Craft owners can get together.

Please email me if you would be interested in participating.

Thanks,
Keith

I'll be in New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee July 3 through July 10. I'd be up for meeting anyone up there then.

NautiqueJeff, my family goes to Maine once a year every year and for the past two we've stopped at that lake. Its really nice, but lemme tell ya, its big!

CorrectCraftFan, where in Maine do go ski? Our family and friends go to this lake in Center Lovell, near Bridgeton. And about the mini-NE reunion thing... that would be awesome! Ohio is nice compared to Orlando location wise for us, but having a renunion up here in the NE I think would be a great idea!

Hellooo N.E. Nautiquers!!!!!
Don't see alot of you around.
I'm from Southeastern Ma. - Trailer a 84 Nauti. (alot less than I'd like!!)
Tough to find any good spots that aren't a zoo on the weekends.
Spend most of the time in N.H. or Me. on Vacations.
Anybody got any hints on good ponds/lakes to visit??? :sunny:

I got I nice lake in Southern ME. Heard of Sebago? Its not that lake, but about 1/2-1 hr away from there to give ya an idea of location.

Where do you ski normally if your in N.H. or ME on vacations?

Where do you ski normally if your in N.H. or ME on vacations?[/quote]

Been quite a few places over the years:

N.H. - Last two years on Balch Lake on the N.H./Me. border, Newfound Lake (My favorite!) & of course the big lake -Winniepasakie (a little rough for the Nautique).

Me. - Long Lake / Brandy Pond / Sebago.
This summer we've rented a house on an island in Sebago. Gonna put the boat in a slip at the marina there for the week, Can't wait!

I've also got a cousin on small private pond in Southern N.H. near Manchester. Used to pull it there all the time until he got his Malibu. Great little place - just right for a slalom or barefoot run. So now I do most of my turns over the small wakes behind the Malibu! :D

It was great. I didn't want to leave. The water was a little rough most days, but the early mornings were good for riding. Wish I could have stayed up there...

I'll get some pictures posted soon. They're still on my camera.

NautiqueJeff,
I know what ya mean, it can chop up pretty good (Not really alot of great ski spots), But one of my favorite areas.
But if you want to talk rough:
We were on vacation there a few years after I bought the Nautique (early 90's) and we had a hurricane come thru the end of our week! :bounce: Yikes! Boat was tied to dock & the guy who owned the cottage let me move it out to his mooring. Well I sat on the porch and I watched it bob up and down in about 4-6 foot swells, pouring rain, whiping winds, until I couldn't take it anymore.
In the middle of this hurricane I swam out jumped in and drove it (bounced it!) up the middle of Alton Bay. My wife met me at the ramp, we got it on the trailer and drove to the middle of a nearby parking lot to ride the storm out. At least it gave me a good story to tell. :o

NautiqueJeff
07-13-2004, 02:47 PM
We were back in Winter Harbor, so conditions were probably better there than on the rest of the lake. Winter Harbor is pretty well protected. I'm sure 4-6 foot swells is no exaggeration. That lake can get pretty rough. Alton Bay, being open to the broads like it is, would be pretty rough in that situation. My grandparents live in Alton, so I know the area pretty well. Glad you were able to get it out of there in one piece!

Well... My family just got back from Kezar Lake in Center Lovell, Maine and it was AWESOME AS USUAL! But this time... we had two additions to the family which made it even more special... one of them has four legs and is called lucy... and the other is kinda blue and is called "HOT!" I'll post some pics if i can find them!

HINT: For those who have tower speakers and a new Nautique, DO NOT play old 70s music, (i.e. Jackson 5, War, Venus, etc...) you will be mocked by the local marina! lol

I'll try to get some pics of the ones of the lake... there are only like two here and only one small pic of our boat... think its the first or second.

BTW... registration is easy... just fill it out once and you'll be in.. no crap whatsoever...not even sure if they email you.

Hi All:

Just registered yesterday. I have an 87 SN2001 that I bought new in the Spring of 87. We've been best buds ever since.

I am on Sebago in Maine and like the big W in New Hamsphire, it is BIG. However, we are close to an area called the Basin which has a course and is general very flat prior to 8:00am and after 4:00 during the weekdays. On the weekends after 8:00 it is a frickin' zoo with all the flatlanders coming out of the woodwork with tubes and what have you. Sebago is cool because it is connected via a river and lock system to Brandy Pond and Long Lake which allows for a cruise after the ski.

There are several other Lakes in Southern Maine which are pretty optimal for skiing riding etc., the real issue is public access which can be a little tricky.

Enjoy the rest of the season and keep up the good work on this web site.

Welcome to the party Mr.Stevens!
I joined back in the spring. PlanetNautique & Correctcraft.com are the Best! Loads of info. and helpful people. (Just another bonus to owning a Correct Craft!). :D
I just vacationed on Sebago in July. Stayed on Frye Island.
Found the Basin and headed back there almost every day for some calm water for my girls to Kneeboard on (and even a couple off runs on the wakeboard for Mom & Dad).
But your right, BIG lake. Except for the basin, the kids just bounced around on the tube while the old Nautique pounded through the waves. But, fun was had by all!
May head back to Long Lake next year (a little calmer).

I am in New England - Natick and Sutton, MA to be exact. Ususally we ride on Lake Singletary in Sutton but we've put in on Cochtitituate (spelling). With the tower, it is tough with all the low, narrow bridges. Nice looking lake though. I can see a few Nautiques clearly from RT 9. Nice to see New England represent.

Hi Nauti84:

Glad you found the Basin and got some good riding in. Early morning during the week you can usually find very flat water. Frye Island is a good time. A little bit of hassle with the ferry and all, but a scenic place. You might want to consider Little Sebago just across from Route 302. Lots of interconnected lakes with lots of calm water. Two or three courses so that may be a better option if you are looking for flat water. Also Panther Pond may be an option.

Enjoy the rest of the season.

My season only consisted of the week at Sebago, but I'll start lookin for next year.
Maybe I'll get to squeeze another trip in, but it's not looking good.

Are you close to him? Just wondering about location b/c as you prob now from my other post on this thread... we go to Maine blah blah blah...

I know NECC has supplied some boats for the NH INT, which I went to not this past season but the season before. I will probably go to it next year. I always see his boats there. Unfortunately, I don't think he would be very happy to see us...

Not to far away, 40 miles. They have a great big new show room that is in construction at present. I hear it will be very nice. To open spring of 05 I hear.

That would suprise me that they would not be happy to see you. Real nice people to deal with.

Sounds like a long story and I dont want to pry for the details ...I'm sure this must be an isolated case. :o

I am sure that if you talk to them then maybe the issue could be resolved if there is still an issue to solve. Again I am sure it can be worked

Thier new place would be a great place to have a little get together.

Again I know alot of people with Nautiques and they all bought them from NECC. Real Nice people to deal with. :)

By no means do I want to insult them. Many times I have been impressed by their customer support and esp. their service dept. It's been a while. Just one of those things where "sht" happens and is no one is ever heard of again.

Their new place does sound great and I would actually love to use it as a place to get some New Englanders together... We got time though, I won't be near there til end of July of 05.

Hey mgswed,

Did you pick that up at NECC? I'll probably be heading north to help open my family's place in ME this weekend. I'm thinking about stopping in Rochester on the way up and checking out NECC's new showroom.

Boat looks great! Good luck with it.

Nauti84,

My family has a place on Little Ossipee Lake in Waterboro, ME. Not a big lake - about 3 miles long - but nice and clean.

If you drive by the lake on Route 5 you can't miss our Seafoam green 66 right across the cove. This will be it's 39th year on the lake! The last few years we've had folks stop at the dock when we put the boat in... They say things like, "Nice to see the old boat on the lake..." and "Summer doesn't start till the green boat goes in the water".

Yeah i got it at NECC. Great deal plus it was meticuously cleaned and taken care of. Great first boat. Ive already put some work into it. I replaced the stereo, fixed the guages and stern light (had a kink in it and wouldnt fit), and put some snaps in under the rub rail to keep the cover on in the wind (already blew in the water twice before).

I'll try to post them early next week... Stay tuned!

My wife and I are planning a road trip through New England June 24-July 10. We live in SC, but our road trip will start and finish in DC. I need all of the suggestions that I can get for places to visit and things to see. Our trip plans include about 7-8 nights of camping (approximately every other night), and so far my route plans are as follows:
Hwy 1 through CT and RI.
Hwy 6 over to Cape Cod for 2 nights.
Hwy 1 again up through Acadia National Park
Hwy 2 over to Hwy 5
Hwy 5 all the way back down to Hwy 1

Currently planned stops include:
Hammonasset Beach State Park (CT)
Cape Cod
Boston
Ogunquit (ME)
Kennebunkport (ME)
White Mountains
Granville Buld State Park (VT)
Mt Monadnock
Hartford (CT)

Any suggestions for the trip planning are greatly appreciated. These stops were arbitrarily picked, so if any of them are dogs, please let me know! Also, if any of you are going to be doing any camping or lodging on lakes in the area during that time, we would love to get together!

You can stop by Candlewood Lake in Danbury on 6/25 for fireworks - great from the boat!

Cape Cod is very nice, but you can't launch there. You can take the ferry to Martha's Vinyard and rent bikes for the day.

But you must do the Kennebunk River for class 4 rapids. Take Rt 201 to The Forks.

Also, go west to Lake Mooselookmeguntic for a day of exploring and moose siteseeing. THen come south on Rt 17 to Rumford and RT 2 to Bethel for artsy fa--sy shopping and local gemstones. Now, you're only 20 minutes away from our secret spot (PM for details)! Then west on RT 5 to Mt. Washington and south on Rt 16 to Lake Winnipesaukee.

What makes you say you cant launch at the cape?

Im pretty sure there are plenty of places to launch your boat down the cape. Wequaquet lake for example right in the middle of the cape (Pretty big) in either centerville or west hyannisport, im not sure what town. And im pretty sure there are plently of other place, both fresh and salt water, whatever your looking for.

Skinautique2001,

I have a few tips and suggestions for your trip.

Boston is nice, but the “Big Dig” still has things screwed up! Be careful driving through Boston.

I always enjoy seeing the U.S.S. Constitution (“Old Ironsides”) and the museum in her honor. She is such a beautiful ship. She is the oldest commissioned warship in the world. She is also the first American warship to circumnavigate the globe. I wonder if the Meloon family was involved in her construction…? Kidding!

You didn’t mention stopping in Kittery (ME), but in case you do… If you’re into hunting or fishing you could hit the Kittery Trading Post. They have other things too… There are also a ton of stores along Route 1 in Kittery.

Oh, if you have a sweet tooth stop at Yummies on Route 1 in Kittery. Heading north on Route 1, it is a little place on the right just after all of the shopping malls. Their sign says they have 10,000 lbs of candy on display at all times. They have a lot of stuff I haven’t seen since I was a kid. It might be a good sugar boost to keep you going on your trip.

I only know a little about Ogunquit… My wife and I stayed at the Anchorage by the Sea hotel for our anniversary a couple of years ago. Nice hotel and nice town. The town is a good place to shop. There is a walkway along the shore called Marginal Way. It starts right near Anchorage by the Sea, at the beginning of Shore Rd. It is a nice walk, lots of fresh sea air, but it is quite long. (A couple of miles, I believe.)

I’ve had family living in Kennebunkport for almost 40 years… Here are a few tips for Kennebunkport:

Check out the town’s website: http://www.kennebunkport.org/

Also check out expedia.com for a map of the town. I find their maps the best. Plus, you can manipulate them to show what you need.

If you’re coming up from Ogunquit you’ll probably be going up Route 1. There are a lot of shops along Route 1, have your co-pilot keep an eye out for stores that might interest you.

From Ogunquit, taking Route 1 north into Wells, you’ll get to a set of lights were 9 merges with route 1 and continues north. A mile or so up Route 1, 9 bears to the right, follow 9 straight into Kennebunkport.

- The port is great for shopping and site seeing. Plan on parking and walking. It is a lot easier than trying to move the car around.
- When you get into the port you’ll cross a small bridge and there is a row of shops to your left, there is a (paid) parking lot behind the shops. The entrance is at the end of that row of shops. Well worth the cost of parking.
- Alison’s Restaurant is right there near the parking lot. They have good food and are pretty reasonable for prices.
- If you’re a beer nut (pardon the expression) there is the Kennebunkport Brewery. (I don’t think they give free samples… Sorry!) They’re back over the bridge to the left…
- Plan on bringing the camera. The town is very picturesque. (You won’t find any golden arches there!)
- Take the trolley tour. This is a bus that looks like a trolley car. It is pretty reasonably priced and it will take you around town. You’ll learn a few historical things about the town and get to see the sites. (Including Walker Point, summer home to George (H.W.) and Barbara Bush. The trolley only drives by the house, the Secret Service does not allow access.) I believe they also take you over to the Franciscan Monastery. Again, this will allow you to see some sites you might not normally see.
- After shopping in the port you could take your car down Ocean Avenue. Ocean Ave. runs parallel to the port, out to the coast. (This is also the road you’d take to get to Bush’s place.) Just after the port, before Ocean Ave. bears to the left and continues along the coast, there is a large white hotel on your left - The Colony Hotel, I believe. To your right is a small parking area. Watch for it, it is among some trees. You can park there and walk out on a jetty and watch some of the boats going in and out of the port. (On the opposite side of the entrance to the port is another jetty and behind that is Kennebunk Beach.)
- Continuing on Ocean Ave, there is a spot called “Blowing’ Cave”. This is a cave that, when the tide comes in, the water/waves entering the cave create air preasure that blows the air back out of the cave. Of course you have to catch this attraction at the right time...
- After Bush’s place, there isn’t much to see. You could turn around and take Ocean Ave back to the port.
- When you’re done shopping and you’re leaving the port the way you came in, over the bridge to the set of lights, you can turn right or left to see other things.
- If you turn left at the lights onto Beach Ave. that will take you straight over to Kennebunk beach, a good place for a relaxing walk.
- If you turn right at the lights onto 9A and 35 (They run together.) there is more shopping down the road. (Be sure to check out Keys to the Kitchen, that’s my Aunt’s store. After turning right at the lights it is up the road on the left.)
- If you go straight through the lights you can follow 9 back to Route 1.

Those are some ideas… I’m sure you can get some others from the town’s website.

Hope that helped… Have a safe trip.

PS - Sorry this post was so long!

I have a 96 SN on Lake Bomoseen in Vermont. There are a number of nautiques abeit small on the lake but growing. I brought by boat when I bought a camp their in 1999 when there were two others. I'd say there are about 10 today.

Abu, 1)are u partnering in some way w/ Candlewood E. M? 2)if i recall my history, u NE Nautiquers reside where CC originally started. Or at the least, from the founder's part of the country.

Yeah, CC was originally started up in VT or NH if I remember, but I still wouldn't call that "local" to me...

No, I'm not partnering w/ CEMC in any way, we're all just good friends on the lake :)

About NEN and Candlewood Customs, we decided to play it safe and get rid of "NAUTIQUES" in the name of the site and URL. After talking with many people we've decided to not take any legal chances. Recently we've been working ont the site, apart from just the "forum" part. We are actually going to try to make it a site more geared toward the members of Candlewood Lake, and nearby lakes, instead of specifically focusing on Nautiques. Of course, when you get to know the site, it will be obvious that there is a connection w/ CC, but not to any extent where we can be sued for it ;-). If you'd like to check out where I'm testing it out, check out http://students.cgps.org/~aekaireb08/index.htm. It is just temporary there, until we finally get it finished, where we will upload it to a real webhosting site...

I'll let you know when it's up for for real, my lake needs something like this! lol

PM me w/ any questions or comments about it if you'd like, its always good to hear what you all think...

~Austin

Alright dude, I think we're pretty much done... This is what I've got so far... CLICK HERE (http://students.cgps.org/~aekaireb08/index2.htm)

Of course, not all the quarks have been worked out w/ the forum. This is not how the forum will function EXACTLY when the site goes up for real, but this is how it will LOOK for the most part. We will start the forum from scartch, so you won't get the "cannot display page" page when you try to login at the bottom. But, at least you get the idea of how the site will look. Only thing I think from now is make the top 2 logos a bit smaller, edit some link behaviors, gallery style, and I think we're all go from there....

Please tell me what you think before it goes up for real... Thanks again everyone!

If you guys are really jumpy and want to log on to the forum, it should let you register and log in using just the top login button. The bottom button will give you the error page as austin said.

Hello all,
Brand new to the Planetnautique forum but have frequented the site often. I bought my first Nautique in 1990 - it's a 1986 2001 that is sitting in the driveway waiting for a new owner. I was the on;y person with an inboard back than. Now we share the lake with a couple of Moomba's and Mastercraft's but I am still THE only smart one who has the best boat made. I am now the owner of a 2000 Sport with a Python engine that I bought in March.out in Erie Pennsylvania. LOVE the power, hate the cost of fuel though. The summers are to short to worry about the proce of driving, riding and skiing the best boat made.
Where's home?? Quaddick Lake in Thompson CT.

North Haven, CT here. Just purchased a 2007 SV211, quality is amazing. I came from a 2001 Tige i purchased new. It was nice but not of the same caliber. We ski CT River out of Glastonbury mostly. Skied Tennessee 2 yrs ago, Norris Lake. Rented a floating house. One of the best lakes i have ever skied on. If it was 7 hours away vs. 14 i would go back every year. Skied Lake Powel 6 yrs ago, and last year Silver lake in New Hampshire. Always up for trying someone elses water.
Ever get down this area give me a shout. You have to get into Sky skiing to really appreciate flying.
