Dude! Adrian! Does that Montero not get stuck?! That's hilarious! I was down at Corpus Christy last summer and some guy tried to launch his jetski, but not on the launch ramp. He got stuck out in the ocean. It took about 25 people and 30 min to get that thing out. The tide had really started to come in on him by the time they got him out. What makes it even funnier was that where he was trying to launch there were signs saying no vehicles.
And that F100 is hilarious! I thought I got funny looks with my 86 ford! hehe. Whatever gets you to the lake!

Andrew,
We love our Superduty! We have the V10 with a 6" Procomp Lift, 36"X16.5X14.5's Swamper TSL's, and 12.5X16.5 Centerlines. The mileage is around 12 MPG everyday and 10 MPG towing. We are thinking about upgrading to a diesel when the new bodystyle comes out but overall the truck is great for road trips with our two boys. We only use for trips and dirt bike adventures so the mileage is relatively low for a 99 (58,000) as I have the Dodge for my commute truck and my wife has a new Rubicon.

Dude! Adrian! Does that Montero not get stuck?! That's hilarious!
what is hilarious is where is our ramp with the drought we have here :???:
No, the Mitsubishi don't get stuck there because it's on an old road that was there before they made de dam.
A pic of a lake of the area last year. Now this lake has no water at all.
jeepn

Wow adrian, ya'll need some water. we are in a drought here, but so far my lake is only 7 feet low, rain would be nice.
ag4ever, a lady ran a red light in downtown and tboned me. my momentum and the rear tire going over her hood flipped us on our side. luckily we all walked away with just assorted bumps and bruises. nothing quite like sliding down the street watching the asphalt inches from your face. but i got bumped into a nicer tow vehicle because of it. downside, i was in the middle of trying to upgrade the boat, but bailed just because of the uncertainty of the outcome of the accident moneywise (she's claiming i ran the red light)

02-17-2006, 10:57 AM
Scott,
Wow that sucks. I guess it is good ya'll did not get hurt. Hope the insurance claim goes OK. You should blame Bill White for "fixing" the traffic light cycles downtown. She might have been used to how they cycled and when they were changed people had to get used to them. I think they cycles are better now though.

02-18-2006, 10:04 AM
surroundsound64, my truck hauls great. It probably does a little better than a normal F-150 from that year because of the extra gearing, power, and stronger frame. It's rated to tow just as much as any other 1/2 ton truck.
wakeboarddrumma, I used to ride all the time at Honeycomb, but started riding more at Spring Creek. On I mainly ride in Huntsville on the river because it's closer to my house and gas is too **** much to drive 1 hour away when I have water 15 minutes away. I come to Guntersville every now and then, but stay in Spring Creek mostly.

Yes that is a Discovery, which has been replaced by the new LR3. No Land Rovers are available with diesels in the US due to US emissions requirements. We'll see if that changes once we get low sulfer diesel fuel.
On another note, the Ohio River looks pretty good for this time of the year.

Impressive rig. How does that work when/if you travel to other states. Here in California, for instance, it is not legal
to attach the boat to the trailer. Only allowed to tow one trailer at a time. BKH

Mike, Can you tell me more about your truck. I thought the only SRT truck from Dodge was the one with the Viper motor and it has different ground effects, wheels, sits lower, and has a spoiler. What did SRT do special to your truck?

It's just a 5.7 Hemi quad cab with lots of mods to come. Here's some more of my SRT8 Charger.

It is a great looking truck.. I was not trying to call you a poser just curious if Dodge had made something different. The charger srt is really cool. I am sure it is a blast to drive.

The SRT is..scary. It's a four door Vette. MotorTrend and SRT engineer's did a engine dyno using the old SAEJ606 standard used in the 60's and 70's to measure HP. No accessories, 100 octane fuel. At 6400 rpm it cranked out 464 hp.....and climbing. The exact same as the 426 street Hemi. But the SRT gets 21 mpg on the highway with the ac on. hehehe Yellow_Flash_Colorz: 8-)
Regards Jon!!! I'll post pics of the truck when I'm done with the mods!!

GotWake-
I love my lifted F-150. Only problem is the rear sag when towing with a load in the bed. I would not go higher than 6' lift and 35' tires. You will loose a lot of acceleration.
Good luck!

That looks great! Are you at 6"? Looks like more. Give us the low down on it! Anyway, I had a buddy tell me the same thing on the rear and I really didn't want to go bigger than 35" tires. (wife issues there) Do you need 6" for a 35? Haven't dug into it yet - thanks.

Got Wake,
You can run 35 inch tires with a 4 inch lift, but it can rub your fenders.
I went with a 6 inch fabtech lift. I have no problems at all.
I would get All-Terrians versus Mudders. They make a lot of noise on the freeway, and cause vibration on the steering wheel.
Goos luck!

Hey Stef Jelos
How does the FJ do pulling the boat?
Stef_Jelos
07-06-2006, 05:16 PM
Awesome. The FJ is a heavy, wide vehicle. Tongue weight is about 250lbs for my trailer. Hardly notice it's back there. Highly recommend the FJ for towing.

Thanks for the info Timber!
Hlymons,
In the last edition of Trailer Boats magazine, they tested an new FJ pulling a 2006 Nautique 210. I believe the weight of the boat/trailer was around 4,700 pounds. They reported that this Toyota did very well pullling this boat in several conditions even though it was pushing the limit for it's maximun Towed weight. They seem to like this new truck. It is growing on me - - especially since I saw the black one above pulling the 211!!!!
Later,
Ken

Just the stock engine, but has a torque kit and heavy duty springs in the rear.
No, it will not pull it up the ramp. I tried with my pontoon boat (a little lighter), comes close, but not quite enough power. Plus, it likes to do wheelies down the ramp with that much weight on it. It is, however, great for moving the toys around the garage.

yeah, i figured u couldn't do much more than move it around. but i imagine that it is still pretty handy

Well is 30 miles to the lake, that would be a long ride. My driveway is a little tight and slopes so i just use it to get the boat in and out of the garage.

The noise from a diesel engine is annoying.
I think the 345 hp from the Hemi will be plenty sufficient to get me back a forth from the lake. Also I use this truck to travel quite a bit with my job and gas is much cheeper.

I just picked it up, $500.

It ain't pretty but it will get me up the ramp and up the shore line when I decide not to use a ramp this year...I guess you could say I spent all my money on the boat, heck no one knows what I drove to the lake when I am on the water...

That's awesome!
Not really, I have to stop every couple of miles and pick up the parts that fall off, LOL! With the built FI 454, a detroit out back and a full spool up front it does get up the ramp without to much trouble...
