I need to get cap, points, rotor, condenser for my motor quickly and want to buy them from a local auto parts store. Can anyone give me the automotive reference (e.g. Ford model year, etc) that I can use to cross reference this engine to the automotive version so I can get these parts at an auto parts store..thanks in advance

I was told that an F-250 would be very similar, or so the auto parts guy said.

You could take one plug, spark plug wire, and the distributor cap and the points (now would be a great time to switch to electronic) to a good auto parts store and they could match. If your not sure about re-orienting things when you get back take a digi pic.

Best bet call Ski-Dim and pay for next day shipping.

:!: The distributor in all Ski Nautiques is different because of the fact that they rotate opposite to those in a car/truck. It is probably a prescolite distributor. There is a metal tag on the distributor with some numbers on it. Find the numbers and take to a good parts counter and they can cross reference the parts. They will most likely not have the rubber gasket so take the old one off the old cap, also try to get a cap without any vents or windows .

The best upgrade I did to my old nautique was the points replacement electronic conversion, about $100 from the online marine/ski shops.

The engines are not reverse rotation, the difference in them and other inboards that back to the right is the PCM 123 tranny. Supras used it for a while and backed to the left also.

Your right about the electronic conversion, its great, my old MC had that. www.skidim is a great source for parts.

It is a prestolite cap which is actually a marine cap it will last longer if you go with a pcm part. with the moisture in the boats the marine parts seem to last longer.
