Has anyone had any experience with these? The benefits sound nice but I wonder about the reliability and durability of it? The only boat company using this that I know of is MB Sports.
What is everyone elses thoughts/comments?

No experience here, nor do I want any. Reliability and durability are the first things that come to mind when I think of a 2-speed boat tranny.

Two speed transmissions have been around quite a while, used in the drag boats. B&M built them, worked fine. MB or MB sports is or I believe was Mike Brendella, who in his time was a well known drag boat builder and driver. They also use automatic GM transmission set up for high speed boats.

My friend bought the B 52 this year and all has worked out realy well. The tranny seams solid and the fuel savings are the key.

They might work well, but when pulling a skier/wakeboarder etc. a smooth acceleration and holding speed might be an issue. Also most engines produce their best fuel economy and power at mid rpm range. It would take a while to get used to the 2 speed, I like the predictability of single speed.

I by no means know what I am talking about, just throwing a few ideas out there. Wouldn't want to have to repair one either.
