It sounds as if some people are continuing to have issues getting or staying logged in. A few have reported problems of not being able to attach pictures to their posts. If you are having these issues, please do the following first, then post a message here so that we know what problems people are having.

1. Delete any cookies having to do with PlanetNautique (Make sure your browser is CLOSED first).
Here are some that you might have. Delete all of these.

I've done all that many times before already. I don't know why, but it does the same thing to me no matter what computer I'm using.

- Can't stay logged in after leaving site
- Opened new threads aren't updated (post-it color change)

Do you have cookies enabled?

Is anyone else having this issue?

Hate to say anything but I am having problems with staying logged on between visits too but I know you are very busy so I will just deal with it in the mean time.

Here we go again... These problems are always so fun to diagnose. Just when I think I have it fixed, we have it come up again.

Is anyone still having trouble with this? I haven't had any problems for the past day or so, and I want to make sure everyone else is okay too.

Jeff,
The problem comes from the portal page. If I click on the "PlanetNautique Forums" from the main page and go through to the portal, it doesn't recognize me. If I go through one of the news articles (the one that I put up about enhancing PlanetNautique) then it recognizes me. Hope that helps. If you don't want to work on it, I can keep getting around it.

SN,

I doubt seriously that the portal page has anything to do with it. As a test, try going to:
http://www.nautiqueplanet.com/forums/portal.php
I bet that recognizes you.

I bet if you go to:
http://www.planetnautique.com/forums/portal.php
it does not recognize you. Am I right?

The cookie provided when you go to www.nautiqueplanet.com/[anything] is the same no matter which page you load. I believe the problem lies in the way we have the domain name www.planetnautique.com pointing to www.nautiqueplanet.com. If you look at the URL for the site you're hitting by going through your link in that article, you'll see that it is a www.planetnautique.com address. If you check the URL that you hit going through the link to the forums from the main page, you'll see that it is a nautiqueplanet.com address. There are reasons that the forwarding of planetnautique.com is set up like this, and they go back to when we moved to our new server. The problem lies in the fact that we can't pass a cookie for two different URL's back to users' computers. I have a theory on how to make this whole problem go away for everyone. Let me give it a shot.

Jeff,
You were right. The one that points to planetnautique.com...... didn't work. The one pointed to nautiqueplanet.com did work.

Hope that helps!!

Luke and I discussed this issue thoroughly, and we have decided to change the cookie settings on the site again. Now everything should work properly based on www.planetnautique.com addresses. All users should stop using the nautiqueplanet.com address to access the forums page. You will all need to recheck the box for "remember me" the next time you login. After that, you should be all set.

New URL to bookmark the forums directly:
http://www.planetnautique.com/forums/portal.php

This is the last time this will change. I promise!
