Here's my new '05 Ski 196 that I picked up yesterday.
I ordered it last September, it arrived in January, and the dealer stored it until I picked it up.
Events: Saturday AM - went for a test drive at the dealer and towed it home. Saturday afternoon - went for a ski (with dry suit - lake water is 57 degrees).
Sunday - peeled off the side decals circling the "Nautique" lettering and waxed the entire boat. It's now ready to go onto the boat hoist. 8-)

I love that boat. I think that covers everything. PDT_002

BTW, is that the"Air Nautique/Wakeboard" Logo on your bow?

AbunDiga,
Thanks, I like the way it came out also!
If you are referring to the top side of the bow, no, that is not a logo. That is the factory non-skid treatment that is installed when you order a walk-thru windshield on a closed-bow Ski Nautique.

Thats what that's for...

Just something you may wanna keep in mind here... With the walk-thru windhield always opening and closing, I find it easier to have the mirror on the driver's windshield. That way I can also drive with the walk-thru open.

Too Sweet! I've been waiting for someone to peel off those circle dealies around the "NAUTIQUE". It looks great!

Looks great. I was wondering what it would look like with the "tatoo look" peeled off. I may do the same to mine!

Nice to see people buying 196's that arent' ski clubs/promo drivers/etc. - long live the closed bow!

Traded my faith 92SN for a 02 closed bow 196 last November. It is an ex school boat and came with a tower. Here in the UK open bow SN's are rare, its to cold even in the summer!

Glad to see another closed bow! Great looking boat, they have such a classic look.

Sweet boat. I like it with the circles off. Is it just the angle of the photo, or is the Nautique crooked? It appears to be running uphill from stern to bow.

CH,
Thanks. I believe the side NAUTIQUE lettering is aligned (more or less) with the rub rail, not the primary stripe. This gives the illusion that the lettering is running uphill when compared to the primary stripe.

It looked a little uphill to mee to, but didn't want to be the one to plant the seed in his head.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the "ring" would overlap the other stripes if it was applied on a different angle. The boat looks great MacedayDave

Dave. On your third picture, you can see a black circle at the helm, right above the air intake on the drivers side. Is that an add-on? What is it?

That is the vent for the defroster. It is part of the heater that is installed from the factory.

I'm not the right Dave, but I can tell you that it is a vent for the heater. This one at the windshield does a great job of defogging on those mornings that the windshield fogs all up. You know the ones, you are waiting at the end of the course for the sun to pop up enough early in the morning to be able to see for your first pass. By the way, did I mention that I really like the look without the tatoos. I am really thinking about doing that to mine.

I must say...yet another stellar boat! I just bought an '04 Ski196 and love the closed bow. It is such a classic and beautiful looking boat. I just couldn't imagine owning anything else...why mess with perfection! Good job on peeling off the decal's, it looks great. Gives it a nice clean look.

Thanks for all of the compliments on the boat.

After having an open-bow (Brand "X" ProStar 205) for six years, and having people sit in the open bow area a total of approximately 10 times over those six seasons, I decided to go with the a closed bow. I think I will be very happy with the increased interior room the closed bow affords, not to mention the improved wake and not having to close off the walk-through on those cool mornings when the water is glass but the air is chilly. 8-)

I beleive that would be the defroster vent as factory installed.
