Questions about 1985 2001

Just purchased my first sn 2001 for $3800 :)
seems to be in good shape runs well trailer in good shape. Gel is in nice shape needs a good buffing.
Now the question. When i drop it in the water i am getting water in the bilge area. I took the floor and rear seat out cant seem to find where it is seeping in.
I have all winter to discuss this as i just dropped it for storage. Any and all help would be great.,.

I'd check the shaft packing first, then the rudder packing. It is likely that one or both need to be adjusted or replaced.

That's a good looking boat! One of these days I would like to pick up a 2001 and fix it up.

My cousin had the same issue with his 83 2001. He did just as Jeff suggested and it took care of the problem. Great boat!

Thanks for the input I will repack both in the spring and see where it takes me....

next question how can you tell if it has been converted to electronic ignition?
I was told that it was but it looks like old points and condensor to me??
