Had the boat out yesterday and it ran fine at skiing speeds. However, when we were looking for good water my buddy was running it at WOT throttle and it would drop down to 2,500- 2,700 RPM at full throttle, run rough and have some mis-fires. Once we stopped, waited and started again it would perform fine until we got it back to WOT then the same thing would happen. I just replaced the FCC filter, and I am thinking this is a fuel pump related issue. Any thoughts? Would it be the low pressure or the high pressure pump?

Does the red light come on? How's the temperature when you're running the engine that fast? Sounds like you might be going into Limp Mode.

Your fuel pump would be making a very distinct noise. Put the boat in idle and you would hear it. It will make a whistling kind of a noise. Doubt it has anything to do with the warning light. Other than that, it could be a number of things. What year is the boat and what motor?

Fuel pump would be my guess.

No warning light, and the gauges are all within normal ranges. Methinks it has to be a fuel delivery problem, but I am open to other suggestions.

probably hitting the rev limiter and putting it into limp mode (but limp mode is a bit below 2000 rpms). What RPM would it get to before the problem?
