Search issues

I was trying to locate a thread that displayed a number of techniques on how to mount an amp board and have had no success. Specifically, I was interested in a jroyal thread that showed his unique method for securing his amps/board to the gunnels in his boat. I initially tried a search using "amp" and "board." Dumb terms to use, I know, but interestingly enough I got "no results". Note, that I didn't get a response that one of my search terms was too short, nor did it complain my search criteria was too broad with too many hits. Since I couldn't narrow my search to just the audio section of the forums, I decided to just pick through jeff's posts and searched on his user name (jroyal). The search results came up with 17 hits, although by his username he has over 270 posts. Not what I expected.

Did a number of posts from the old software not make it into the new Planet Nautique and/or is the Search function of this board a work in progress, or is it pretty much "what you see is what you get"?

I know the old stuff was moved over. I was looking the other day at a post from 2007. I just searched the term "amp" and got 500 results going back to 2007. Searching "amp board" (together with a space) i got 498 results going back to March 2009.

Also if you view jroyal's profile you can click on "find all post". Which comes up with all 241 post he has.

I threw together one of these custom google search engines for the MC forum some time back to get around the 3 letter search limitations (I know you say it didn't tell you that was the issue). Anyhow, it may not do any better than the VB search, but it's an option if you're interested.

All threads from 2002 on (that's all of them) were moved over. Some early ones are missing the pictures, but I can add those back on a case by case basis if needed. I have never had a problem using the search here, but I am looking into ways to continue to improve it.
